F-14A Tomcat - Jolly Rogers

Recommended Posts

Kit was a dream to build. Some of the parts fit so well, a coat of paint needed to be removed before fitment. For some reason, it took me longer to build than expected, weird.

Please enjoy. Comments/questions always welcomed.

Thanks for looking,

Beautiful build, absolutely awesome cockpit. All the Britmodelers building Tamiya Tomcats has me wanting to run out and buy both the F-14A and the F-14D. My wallet is growling again. Down boy!

Thanks for all the kind words. Super fun kit to build - I can't recommend it enough. Hardest part was deciding how far to paint/weather it before final assembly. You really have to take your time removing and primer, paint, finish, etc., before attaching subassemblies. After taking many photos, I noticed the windscreen still sat proud. After 3 days of waffling, I finally popped it off, removed finish from both parts and replaced. Looks much better now.

A fantastic model of a beautiful airplane - just stunning.  Funnily enough, I watched The Final Countdown again the other night!!  This movie made me fall in love with the Tomcat and The Bones.

1/48 isn't my scale but I am sorely tempted for this one....

Well done bud.

Phil

6 hours ago, speedy said:

Is it OOB. If that doesn’t make you want to go and buy one to copy it then I don’t know what will.

It is OOB - 100%. I even used the kit decals, including the seatbelts (I used "modge podge" to make them as thick as possible and not settle into the seat cushions). Thanks for the kind words.

Fantastic, are those the kit decals.   Sorry, just saw you said they were.  Great job,
