Chr15
Hello Looking to see what paints people have used to paint a Tornado F3. What make and numbers if possible. Thanks
Phone Phixer
It depends on what grey's you want for a particular era. I built an early F3 and used Xtracrylix XA1017 for the barley grey and XA1015 for light aircraft grey. The LAG still needed white adding to it, as I didn't think it was sufficiently light. Whether it is my technique, but I found I got alot of tip dry when airbrushing these.
Chr15
Thanks, was looking at buying one of the acrylic modern kits or buying the paints individually.
Muzz
If it were me I'd go for Hataka, I use there Orange line which are lacquer based, you can get individual paints or sets, the Typhoon one would suit your needs. Colours there for you to do a Barley Grey/LAG scheme or MSG. http://hataka-hobby.com/products/modern-royal-air-force-paint-set-vol-1/ 1

Afterall, an airframe will change colour over its life, and the one I'm building ZH552, had at least 3 different schemes. The Hataka is a damn good paint, but Very thick, I would suggest either a 0.4 needle, or thinning it upto 40/50% for a standard needle.
Blimpyboy
I don't know the dates these were taken (from - I think - a Russian aircraft), but these show some interesting details, such as the loadout, mixed fuel tanks and darker roundels: Plus (also probably taken from a Russian aircraft), one with the lighter roundels: 1

Muzz
Those roundels were applied along with the medium sea grey paint scheme in the last few years of service.
