Smithy1961
Can anyone recommend the best (OOB) kit in 1/35th scale? Many thanks in advance.
Bozothenutter
snarky answer.......which /85 exactly? a multitude of factories with all their own signature makes for a LOT of variation. Zvezda make nice cheap ones, AVF club do beautiful ones with interior, Dragen makes good ones, but you'd have to do research on what boxing to get as they are 'parts bin specialists' and Miniart are about to have a /85 in the shops, that should be the dogs danglies, with the caveat that it is the rare early D5T armed one. https://miniart-models.com/products/35290-t-34-85-w-d-5t-plant-112-spring-1944-interior-kit/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-34_variants http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/t3485bg_2.html
Stuart Wilson
Recently built the Zvezda one and It's a really nice kit. Simple, easy build. It's also accurate for a 1944 built tank. Most other kits are either very late war or post war. Relatively cheap too. Just make sure you get the recent release ZVE3687. Not one of the older ones. The recent release is all new tooling. Bullbasket
Have a look at the various reviews on Perth Military Modelling site of various kits.
RHWinter
MiniArt have just announced another /85 kit and this will probably not be their last... https://miniart-models.com/de/products/37069-t-34-85-czechoslovak-prod-early-type-interior-kit/
Kingsman
I imagine the Miniart ones will set the new standard. Dragon, Academy and ICM offerings have all had very mixed reviews and the old Zvezda one was, as noted above, pretty dreadful. The Revell kit is an ICM re-box. Bronco of course confused the situation with their new 1/32 kit. The thing I don't like about the new Zvezda one - and their SU-100 - is the smoothness of the mouldings. T-34s are famously rough and ready and for me Zvezda haven't captured that. But they are inexpensive: probably half the price that Miniart will be on release. I have the Zvezda kit which I was perfectly content to fiddle with and modify to Czech spec as a Syrian or Egyptian tank. Until I read that Miniart are kitting the Czech spec, that is........ Now I need them to do a Czech built SU-100 too
