Adam Poultney
Recently I've been working on my second Avro Vulcan B1a conversion based on the Great Wall Hobby/Pit Road 1:144 Avro Vulcan B2. This conversion was extensive and not the easiest model I've ever built. My first Vulcan B1a was painted in anti flash white as XH500, this one I decided to do in Camouflage as XA906, although at first I wanted to do XH480 but didn't realise I was out of 1:144 scale 18" H letters so had to buy more decals and decided instead to do an XA serial as those were not shared between Vulcan B1s and B2s. I added a lot more detail such as vortex generators and used a better set of drawings to shape the wings than I did on XH500, and also added a scratchbuilt bomb bay although it is a bit basic. The nose landing gear was mostly scratchbuilt and the main gear was a modification of kit parts. The paints used are Tamiya acrylics for the camouflage and Halfords Appliance White for the underside. XA906 with XH500 My three Mk1 V Bombers in 1:144 scale. The Victor is XA940 built from the Mikromir kit. AdrianMF
That's not a conversion, that's an upgrade! Lovely job (and on the white one too). The bomb bay looks just right for the scale too. Regards, Adrian
