fishplanebeer
Dear All, In the process of building the Airfix MK1a Spitfire and Arma Hurricane Mk1 in 72nd scale as part of my Battle of Britain project but as usual my biggest problem will be obtaining a realistic finish to the exhaust manifolds. I'm not after any trade secrets but just a good method to avoid them simply looking obviously just gun metal or brick red! Kind Regards Colin. Ps. any ideas on when the much anticipated Revell Ju88A-1 will be issued?
Work In Progress
I start with a dull metallic matt grey and then highlight with soft pencil lead and drybrush some additional tones to suit whichever specific aircraft I am modelling. 73north
or if you want the very best -get an old Moskit 1/72 Exhaust - if not paint the exhausts medium brown - the Moskit come in burnt metal and are totally hollow ( and delightful (

FatFlyHalf
I think the trick is to remember that the burnt metal colour includes blues, not just a rusty iron colour.
