Marlin Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 WOW Reini. That looks real tasty. As for building, I've not been at my modelling desk the whole summer. Been a bit busy with this years renovations in the cottage. But come September I'll be back again. /Bosse. 1
reini Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 First pass with the mottling - using Vallejo Gray Violet. I'ts quite difficult to get sharp small camo work done with Vallejo... Quite a lot of overspray. After the second pass - I decanted some of the Tamiya AS-5 and with that I went between the mottling, making them bit more sharper and killing most of the overspray. I think the effect is decent and will do the job. Removing the tape, here's how she looks. Decals next, not many with this kit. All decals done. Getting ready for the final assembly and weathering. I might make it just in time for this GB 6
franky boy Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Nice work Reini Youre a brave man mottling with Vallejo but it’s come out very well. James 1
reini Posted August 13, 2020 Author Posted August 13, 2020 (I'm using Flickr now, which I haven't used before. So if there's any funny business with the pics, let me know...) IMG_20200811_220555 It seems that I had done a little bit poor job at preparing the surface for decals. Despite trying my best with Tamiya Mark Fit, Micro Sol and Tamiya X-20A some of the decals weren't settling down properly. Sanding them down a bit made them look OK. IMG_20200813_092827 Under the wing decals were quite nice after the sanding. IMG_20200813_100143 Washing the whole plane with Flory Models Gray wash. IMG_20200813_205832 Wings on. And I broke one of the antenna supports for like a third time, not gluing it back on until I am finishing the plane and adding the actual antennas. IMG_20200811_224221_1 In the meanwhile, worked on the extra bits. Here I'm adding some final touches to the landing gears. IMG_20200813_091455 Some weathering to the propellers. IMG_20200813_223020 Standing on it's own legs! I just love the way this plane looks. So graceful and aggressive looking at the same time. IMG_20200813_223125 The underside. Still to do - adding the final weathering, gluing all the antennas and small bits onto the plane, removal of masking tape. Done by tomorrow me thinks 2
SafetyDad Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 That's lovely Reini! Great paintwork - I love the fading on the black undersurfaces, and your sanding of the decals has worked brilliantly! Excellent job! SD 1
Alan P Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Excellent modelling 👏👏👏 (I missed this the first time around, directed here by @mark.au and well worth the visit!) 1
