P-39K Airacobra, `Donald Duck` New Guinea

Recommended Posts

Howdy Everyone,

Finally managed to finish this one after a bit of a Boo-Boo on my part

My latest attempt at Eduards 1/48 Airacobra kit

Built from their New Guinea Dual-Combo boxing but with some different markings to the ones in the box

I`d already done `Papuan Panic` a while ago but just couldn`t get inspired by the other options and this one is actually on the front page of the booklet provided but not on the sheet...

Luckily I`d got  an old sheet with it on and used those instead.

The marking represent a P-39K, flown by Lt William McDonough, 40th FS/35th FG, based at Nadzab, New Guinea, 1943

Mostly from the box, drilled the exhausts out and had to cut the doors out as the super glue I used managed to severely fog the canopy and door windows. Meaning refitting the doors and much tidying up afterwards.

Hope you enjoy the pic``s, thanks for looking

Hi Russ,

another perfect model and superb photography.  Where are these PSP plates from? Looking very realistic!

Cheers Andy

Thanks Andy, They`re Eduard injection moulded ones, you just need to paint them.

Very very nice Russ. I love this background - do you still have the link to the picture? I could really need it. Your model looks as genuine as ever! Michael

Thanks Michael, the background is/was part of a wall poster, off Amazon probably.

Great model and great photos, always looks so much better with a background. In this case though I agree that the model looks more real than the photo background!

Hello Russ,

As usual, excellent construction with a breathtaking background.

And, not to forget the platform. Regards, Orion.
