Back in the Saddle Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I've been clearing out my shelf of doom during lockdown and have finished the Buccaneer. The build thread is here if interested. Any comments are welcome! 70 1
janneman36 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Looking used but appropriate I think, these weren’t the cleanest aircraft ... Good that you finished this one and looking good😎I love this scheme on a brick👍👍👍 cheers, Jan 4
Bangor Lad Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Excellent! I saw a Gulf War Buccaneer at RIAT in 1991 and had a chance to get reasonably close. You've captured the look perfectly. I have several Xtradecal Gulf War sets but I still haven't got around to building any. You've certainly started me thinking and will need to have a dig through the stash. Cheers 1
Lord Riot Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 That is beautifully made! I know all about the foibles of this kit, and you've hidden every join line and ill-fitting jetpipe, etc to perfection. Outstanding modelling skill. I still prefer green/grey camo, but as a model this is fantastic. Very, very well done. 1
exdraken Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 looking fantastic! so this is post operations then no? without any load out the Bucc actually looks sleek! 2
binbrook87 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 That's really very nice indeed buddy 👍 Great rendition of the old girl in the twilight of her career 👌 1
ForestFan Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Now time for Airfix to upscale the 72 scale kit! Great job, looks fantastic 1
Phone Phixer Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 A great result. You beat the Airfix Bucc into submission, well done. 1
corsaircorp Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Excellent banana jet !! I really love it !! Congratulations !! It spark my envy to restart mines... Sincerely. CC 1
Sky Keg Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Absolutely beautiful. Your attention to detail and realism is superb. I like the photography as much as the subject too!!! Mike 1
jackroadkill Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Brilliant! There was life in the old girl yet, and you've shown that very well. I'm in awe of you experienced model builders and just how good the results you get are.

There are some great Gulf War decals available for this kit - the ones supplied were a little bland but did the job... 13 hours ago, Alpha Juliet said: Nicely done Sir! It was a bit of a dog to build, if you look closely some of the seems are still visible - I’ll try harder next time! I nearly went for the green/grey camo but decided that the desert sand (pink?) would make a more interesting version of the model. Plus this scheme needed less masking...! 😂 12 hours ago, exdraken said: looking fantastic! so this is post operations then no? without any load out the Bucc actually looks sleek! Thank you! I prefer my aircraft without any ordnance, I think they look better without it! 9 hours ago, binbrook87 said: That's really very nice indeed buddy 👍 Great rendition of the old girl in the twilight of her career 👌 Thank you! 9 hours ago, ForestFan said: Now time for Airfix to upscale the 72 scale kit! Hopefully not too OTT - some airframes we’re pretty grubby... 3 hours ago, Sky Keg said: Absolutely beautiful. Your attention to detail and realism is superb. I like the photography as much as the subject too!!! Cheers Mike. The photography was done on a reflective table, backlit by large windows and with a flash to illuminate the model. I’m still experimenting with the setup, but was happy with these shots. 2 hours ago, jackroadkill said: Brilliant! There was life in the old girl yet, and you've shown that very well. I’m not actually that experienced - I’ve been modelling for years at a fairly basic level but have only started to up my game in the last twelve months after reading posts on here by the real experts and picking up tips and techniques from them.👍 1 hour ago, RMCS said: Niiiice Thank you! 1 1

paulsbrown Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Nice finish. I think I used more sandpaper on that kit than any other. 1
woody37 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 That’s superb, they come with a reputation but you wouldn’t think so looking at what you’ve achieved 1
