Courageous
Hi people, another braille scale model for you. This time it's a Marmon Harrington MkII Armoured Car in 1/72 by an unknown manufacturer to me, Hobby Attack Kits that I picked up at the East of England Model Show held at Peterborough earlier this year. Front box art Rear box art. I'll most probably do the RAF subject. Sprue shot with a small decal sheet. Picture instructions. An obvious limited run kit. A quick scan of the sprue shows little or no location pins, so should make life a little interesting with a fair amount of flash. Quality detail isn't to bad for a limited run kit but knowing very little of the subject, investigation may prove otherwise. Stuart
Courageous
A started update... Upper hull done. Lower hull done although I'm not sure why they have parts 55+56 as separate parts, maybe a different version? Wheels sort of done. The space between the 'spokes' was full of flash and in the top two, you can see flash removed. A horrible seen runs round the circumference and will need tidying up. With no location points and vague instructions for the fitting of the leaf springs, I needed to temporarily fit wheels to axles to get a 'good' position and cement the leaf springs in place. badger
Interesting project you have going in here, I have a slightly different version of this kit in the stash so will be following along. All the best Ben
flashlight
Hi Stuart, this is coming along nicely. Mind if I follow? I always like to watch a build in 1/72nd scale. Have a nice day Nick

Me too, might follow behind this one (or in parallel) but most probably won't bother with a WIP if it's almost the same, we'll see. Welcome aboard Ben. 13 hours ago, flashlight said: I always like to watch a build in 1/72nd scale. Follow away Nick. Their doesn't seem to be that many 1/72 AFV builds on here, maybe 'we' should change that. Stuart

Had it as a present fairly recently but it's not that high on the build list yet. Attack have done a version with a full interior but luckily mines the basic one! Kind regards Ben

Today's lunchtime's effort. A bit of work on the underside was done; floors, various shafts and boxes, exhaust system were added. Unfortunately the bent rod (tie rod?) is slightly too short, as is the long drive shaft, so scratch options will be needed. Stuart

Yes Stuart, that's correct. I have some braille kits in the stash, we'll see which one I'll pull out for the next build. This could be quite soon. Nice progress btw! If that sort of thing appeals Dan Taylor Modelworks has recently brought out a Humber scout car with full interior and also offers a separate engine! https://www.dantaylormodelworks.com/humber-scout-car-profi-pack-434-p.asp I have the basic kit (again), and it's rather nice. Courageous
Turret time. Turret made from 6 parts but I turned into 9, the turret top was cut into 4 pieces and glued together. Now I have room for a figure in the top. Stuart
Courageous
Bits & bobs. I've got round to fitting the longer drive shaft and tie rod to lower chassis. Added a plastic breach block for the turret Vickers MG. Upper hull had it's side MG fitted but a little filler was needed to fill the gaps. Also removed the 'plastic' windows. Before I join the hulls together, I'll need to fit some clear acetate in the window positions. Question, what colour would the inside be, silver or white? badger
Looking good and I have a strong inkling the interior may have been silver but cannot confirm right now.
Courageous
8 hours ago, badger said: strong inkling the interior may have been silver I stumbled across the MAFVA site and according to the authoritative figures there, they say silver until about 1940, then white. So, with the Mk.II being built from '41 on, I'm pretty sure that it will be white . Stuart
badger
I'd go with that - far more reliable than my dodgy memory!! All the best Ben
Courageous
Glazing added for the front windows. Hull halves joined together. Front fitted. Need to make good joins and stuff. Stuart
Redcoat2966
Looking good Stuart......reminds me I must get on with the one I started recently. Glad someone confirmed the interior colour as that's what was holding me up. I take it from the filler, the window frame area was a "loose" fit. Nice job so far...... Regards Simon.

The loose window was of my own making, it wouldn't fit so I sliced too much off. Cleaned her up today and moved it to the house bench to await a prime and check before some paint. Need to check my stock of figures. Stuart
stevehnz
I'm liking this Stuart, a neat looking wee kit, I could be tempted. A nicely done fix on the drive line too. Steve.
Courageous
Sorry for lack of updates, waiting for paint shop availability. AK Light Stone applied overall. Next a little detail painting and think about some more accessories. Stuart
Courageous
I'm slacking, so had a good talk to myself to move by butt. Tyres were painted with Vallejo Panzer grey. Everything had a good douse of gloss varnish. Decals were applied, all of them and glass varnished again, now ready for a wash and weathering process.
