Parrahs
A month and a half? That's a hefty shutdown. Still, better safe than sorry. I most definitely do not want my kit to come with a list of people who gave their lives to make it.

ICMF
How many rounds of orders have they done now, for a kit that's never been seen, let alone released? Hope it's not vapourware.

Hope it's not vapourware. Why would it be: the D.558-I received a rapturous reception and the test shots of the Viggen have been well-publicised. Both look to be the ultimate in aircraft kits. I have neither, but certainly aim to get the X-3.
ICMF
Brand new company, minimal track record, holding multiple pre-orders for a product that nobody had seen at the time, of a highly popular (if niche) subject... It has happened several times before, and usually ends in tears. I'm ecstatic that the kit is out and is everything it promised to be. But something about it had my spidey sense tingling; glad I was wrong!

But something about it had my spidey sense tingling; glad I was wrong! Even Tamiya had to start somewhere.....I guess that sometimes you've just got to have a bit of faith and take a leap in the dark! I'll admit to having missed out on the first run by dithering for too long, for reasons not too far removed from those you've stated; however, I've just now paid for my copy from the second run. My logic is essentially that I've always loved the Viggen and have wanted a large-scale one for as long as I can remember. On top of that I've spent zero of the annual airshow travel budget for the last two years and it seems unlikely that I'll be able to do so again for another year or two at least the way the Covid nonsense is going, so I might as well use the money for something.....
ABeck
............... so I might as well use the money for something............. coming in the future. Surely this or that Chinese company will do an injection copy.......more or less lousy.

Simon Cornes
I was dubious about it I must say, having been involved a few years back with the 1/32 Blenheim from Canada that never actually appeared but that only cost me $50. In this case the JetMads company seems to be on a very firm footing with a proper business model and they have produced actual physical kits already. They are also keen to communicate information about progress and the delays caused by covid. And, finally, customers have started to receive the first batch Viggens. The process is protracted because they produce 500 of a given part before making the next part so that no kits are available until there last part has been made - 500 times. But then they say that they intend to ship 15 kits a day. So thats 33 days, assuming they don't work weekends, so that's 7 weeks for the entire first run to ship so its still 6 weeks or so from now before some customers might receive their kit. I think the second production run is selling very well. I ordered mine yesterday and my order number is 10970. My logic is that they numbered the first run 10,000 to 10,500 so the second is 10,501 to 11,000. I could be completely wrong with my thinking but, if I'm right then they have sold 470 in a matter of hours. Is that realistic? Probably not but I'm glad I have booked my slot. The second batch won't be available until January 2022 and if my thinking is correct then I might be waiting until mid March before I see mine!! But thats good because there will be lots of experience of actually building it and I know that Tigger Wilkes is building his example in order to write a magazine article so that will also become essential reading too I imagine!
WV908
Just got my order in (11058) These things are selling fast. Sadly never seen a JA-37, but I am lucky enough to have seen both SWAFHF Viggens fly and live very close to the one on display at Newark. I can't wait for it to arrive - it looks fantastic. Well that knocks my idea about order numbering being an indication of how many have sold into a cocked hat!! But we have something to look forward to in the New Year!!
