fewr9fkr9595
More work done - After some heavy dry brushing to blend the surface the markings were added. I masked and sprayed the yellow jbd edge and dashed stripe foul line with hataka. The oval/square around the control hatch is a decal. They were then chipped and scratched with a dark grey. Then I started the weathering. I used Vallejo water based washes and splattered them from a brush. (Black, dark grey and grey) Mainly under where a jet would be when on the cat and drips from it etc. The different shades were layered wet on wet. Now dry - So next is a flat coat to take the shine off of the hatch decal and seal everything all in. Then will mask and spray the cat track and oval panels either side if it and leave them in their metallic sheens. Then will add some more splashes and drip with some satin varnish mixed in to make so ‘wet’ or more recent stains. Lastly will be some tire tracks parallel to the cat track. Either pigments or the air brush. Thanks for looking. Tony
fewr9fkr9595
Update: Cat track done and then had some washes and grime added. Tyre scrub marks added alongside the track with some pigments. Used a ruler to keep them straight-ish. Thanks for looking. RFI next when I set up the photo booth to snap at a few other bits too.

fewr9fkr9595
With my recent Academy A Plus build. Deck looks too dark?
theplasticsurgeon
Nice - thanks for sharing. I've got that carrier-deck kit in my stash but have never seen it completed before. The dark deck makes the light aircraft stand out quite well.
helios16v
Nope. Deck looks fine. If anything maybe make it a little shiny in areas w/ some semi-gloss. In service decks are a very dark grey, almost black, and usually pretty oily from all the leaking fuel & hydraulic oil.....especially w/ Tomcats around. Cat tracks are hella slippery. These are from mid-deployment in the mid 1990s. 3

rob85
That’s a great bit of deck you have there, nailed that weathering. Rob
fewr9fkr9595
Tweaked it a bit more, one in natural daylight, other with desk lamp. Hopefully proper RFI pics later with the pair of GWH cats before the GB deadline... Desk lamp (bit over contrasty) Daylight (bit murky out this morning)
