Mikey-1980
small update on the Ferret, We have a base paint to work on......Medium Sea Grey and its laarvly smooth finish too. Next step is to figure out the next layer of the splinter pattern as well as deciding if it is to be a wrap around pattern or just the upper fuselage. Seeking guidance on this one chaps! Ideas are all welcomed.
Hook
Wrap around gets my vote! I plan on fitting a TV guided KAB-500 from the common weapons sprue in Zvezda's MiG-29/Su-30/Yak-130 kit whenever I get around to do mine. Cheers, Andre

Mikey-1980
I think wrap around it is then? Looking forward to seeing your build then @Hook I decided to keep the weapons bays closed for this one. the stock weapons looked a bit too odd. haha! @binbrook87 top or bottom....not fussy me As the under surface is pretty smooth, a wrap shouldn't too bad? Or am i being WAAAY too over optimistic? Thanks for that @Dermo245 I did see this Swedish version of the MiG37, absolutely loved it and flawless too. Quite like the location for the gun pods too. I'm not sure if you're planning on hanging them under the wings or putting them in the internal bay, but I don't think they'll fit. I did a 1/72 version and lengthened it by 3cm and still barely got 2 KAB-500's in an internal bay. Edited June 10, 2020 by jalles

While I was looking for a KAB-500 in order to visually show it not to fit into the bomb bay, You got ahead of me! However, I wrote about this in a topic, the maximum that will fit into the bomb compartments of the MiG-37B - R-60, 50 kg of bombs, NURS. 1 hour ago, jalles said: Edited 1 hour ago by jalles 😍😍😍 WOW! Mikey-1980
Thats a nice finish to the F-16 there @Serkan Sen Though I think it may be a little too complex for me at this stage though haha! Awesome build there @jalles almost looks like an F-35 from underneath too. I do have the 1/72 scale version too in the box of doom to be finished....probably never though ? The more I look at that Swedish miG-37...the more I'm thinking not to do a full splinter wrap paint job? Keeping it 2-tone really sets the lines of the aircraft off nicely. i also like that the cammo extends back to the exhaust outlets too....something I had though about too.

Mikey-1980
no worries about sharing your build @jalles it looks awesome!! The work yu must have put into extending the airframe and getting it look the way you have is superb! Thank you for sharing it I am liking the diagonal digi pattern there too .. I did make a start on the second layer masking last night. I'm not sure if it looks OK, but I'm sure you can get an idea of the random pattern that I came up with. I did wimp out, and I am only doing the top side for the splinter and not a wrap. I also masked off the nose section as well as that seems to be a running theme with Russian fighters. Starboard tail fin Port tail fin Over all top view. with the inclusion of painting the tail section and flaps too. I didn't chance to paint last night as it was almost midnight by the time I finished this bit. Thoughts are welcomed
Mikey-1980
From looking at the exhaust / tail section, I may need to rejig it.....doesn't quite look right? Too blocky if that makes sense? A revision to be made this evening.....
Mikey-1980
Morning all! Last night I did indeed revise the rear section of the Ferret as I wasn't all that happy with it and I wanted to have a few more geometric patterns on there. A silly amount of masking tape.......and I'm almost out....thankfully the hobbycraft opens up next week so I can replenish stocks.... First stage done and completed.....quite happy with it so far too. I did have my shadow follow me into the spare room, demanding fusses and then proceeded to curl up and fall asleep next to me.... After taking the best part of an hour to mask up the matt black sections, this was the result. I'm a little annoyed at myself for the small section I missed in covering up on the Port wing. I was recycling already used tape to mask large areas.....as you can see, I missed a small section. I think I can sort this little bit out with some localised masking and respray. Dont worry too much about the canopy, that is the remains of a little bleeding and the existing masking tape already on there. I am hoping thatthe splinter effect will look pretty decent once the masking is removed. There is some touch up work needed along the lines that bled slightly, which I am surprised at. but over all, I'm reasonably happy for a first attempt at a triple layered splinter cammo. May not be to an exact pattern, but a little artistic license and imagination and it's turned out OK.
