Enzo the Magnificent
Fitting in with my Jolly Rogers obsession for 2020, here is the 1/72 Revell F4U-4. This will be built as an aircraft of VF-5B in 1948, just before the unit was redesignated as VF-61. Decals are from the Cut Then Add decal sheet CTA-006.
Enzo the Magnificent
The relevant sprue shots. From what I can see, this kit captures all the relevant changes for the F4U-4, except that there is no cockpit floor. So... maybe a small piece of plasticard will be required... as with my concurrent Tamiya builds, the kit provides the flaps up. So...

The Italeri kit of the same beast has a floor... Go figure. JR
Enzo the Magnificent
First thing to do was to remove the flap areas. The inner parts are as supplied. The outer one are after surgery, Once the flaps are removed I was expecting the parts to become very flimsy, as happened with my concurrent Tamiya builds. Even more so in thois case due to the way that the leading edge radiator intakes are provided as seperate parts. However., that didn't happen, no doubt due to the fact that the plastic is somewhat thicker, So... wings complete. The eagle-eyed among you may notice that there are two wing sets here... I really liked the kit scheme, which is an F4U-4B, So... it's entirely possible that a second build may have edged into this thread... I may have lost my mind... 4
