Dansk
Thank you kindly gentlemen Withe addition of the ip cover the cockpit is complete. It really is a piece of engineering from tamiya this. Dry fitting it in the fuselage shows no real problems so i can button this up next stage. Gulp. Dansk
Cheers fellas 👍 all the fuselage is joined as we speak so onto the engine next. throwing the canopy on reveals its extremely clear and you can see the detail really nicely Edited June 5, 2020 by Dansk
moaning dolphin
Great stuff! That cockpit is the Bees Knees! The fit looks perfect! One question on the instrument panels though, did you use the kits decals for those? and did you cover the back of the instrument panel? I look at mine, still on the decal sheet, and I cant see much detail in them. Wondering if that's just because its on dark decal paper? John Masters
This is looking superb. I can't wait to see your Twin Wasp...

Bob I tried an aftermarket ip but it looked rubbish so i just kept the dials from that and put them behind the kit facia (and filled them with pa glue). The kit facia is good if a little too pronounced.

Thanks john, not going to town on the engine though, its mostly hidden on mine - it’ll be closed up. i’ve made a start with the manifolds and exhausts primed in rust.
modelling minion
I'm really pleased that you can see as much of the cockpit through the canopy as you can, it really is very clear. The exhaust pipes look good but I don't blame you for not going mad on the engine as not a lot is visible once the cowling is in place.
Dansk
Fuselage is sealed up just needing the few joins filled and sanded. now onto the engine.
modelling minion
Looks like she's gone together really nicely Paul with a minimum of clean up required.
Dansk
Thanks craig 👍 just been ‘rustifying’ the exhausts/manifolds. Only the exiting ends will be seen buts its fun to do. (Note to self: dont go nuts on the engine it wont be seen!).

Thank you my friend 🙏 heres more engine work from today, the front set of cylinders with scratched HT leads (still need to make more) And the reduction gearbox and generator etc is complete and requires a clear coat and a wash next. then the exhausts mounted on the firewall bulkhead.
modelling minion
Great start on the engine Paul, will you be adding extras to it or just building what Tamiya give you?

Corsairfoxfouruncle
Some very impressive work on the leads and rust. Good practice here for the day you have a build with exposed exhausts. 1
Cookenbacher
This is a very enjoyable thread Paul - looking for the popcorn emoji - 🍿. Ah, that'll do. Wonderful detail - what is your secret to the exhaust painting?
CliffB
Excellent work Paul and I'm guessing that these early stages are likely to be the most time consuming (keeping one eye on the GB deadline). Cheers
