BlackMax12
Started another project. This is Rye Field's new Challenger II TES Megatron. Looks interesting so far and fairly involved. Working suspension and working individual link tracks, nice but who cares? Got the 3 piece lower hull assembled and added some fittings to the rear plate. Need a break.
Jasper dog
Hi Lloyd, looks good, I'll tag along if I may. All the best Darryl
robw_uk
Nice work and looks a very nice kit. The indi-link tracks look a little fiddly to me
Silenoz
Kit is on the way too... looks good so far. Did you also go for the RFM-upgrade set? Edited May 22, 2020 by Silenoz

BlackMax12
Thanks Darryl Sure come along if you want to. Thanks Rob The tracks are actually nice and fairly easy too. Don't really care if the suspension and tracks are workable though. Thanks Silenoz No, there's enough photo etch in the kit without torturing myself with those pe slats. No thanks. Thanks AJ Come on down. Lloyd

diablo rsv
I'm another one that has this kit on order so I shall follow along to if that's ok.
BlackMax12
Thanks Ivan Thanks diablo A little more progress this AM. The rear plate pretty much complete, the suspension in place and started on some wheels and the front of the hull. Lots to come yet.

BlackMax12
Thanks Ivan Got the wheels on but nothing else accomplished today. There's always tomorrow. Those photo etch mounts for the rear slat armor are a little wonky and tough to get straight but the slats should hide most of the problems. I trial fitted and the slats do fit, glad for that. Jasper dog
Coming along nicely, looks to be going together pretty quickly, always a good sign, IMO. Cheers Darryl
ivan-o
A lot of those mounting points would have to come off the hull but does it look like you could do a basic Chally with this kit? Ivan
BlackMax12
Thanks Darryl Still lots of fiddly little bits to add to the upper hull yet, especially the tiny hinges on the rear deck, etc Ivan I don't know enough about Challengers to answer. Rye Field gives lots of unused parts in the box so it looks like they are planning another Challenger. Lloyd

Sleepwalker
It's getting nice together. I guess painting through all these grilles will be a bit tricky now.
BlackMax12
Thanks speedlimit Thanks Sleepwalker Shouldn't be too hard to paint, the side skirts and slats are held on with poster tack at the moment so they come off for painting. Bullbasket
Considering that the slat armour is plastic, it doesn't look too bad. John.
BlackMax12
Thanks John I wasn't going to get the pe slat package as I don't like pe that much and the plastic looks not too terrible. Those pe slats look like a real torture test to assemble, no thanks. I started on the tracks last night and after assembling the first 13 links realized I had the tie bars between links upside down so those links will have to be hidden on the top track run. They are glued together and they are amazingly flexible but they won't come apart now. I'll start fresh this morning and make sure they are right side up, dammit. RFM calls for 87 links per side which is 174 total but there are only 168 links in the kit. Fortunately there are side skirts so if they don't join at the top it will not show. Maybe it's a typo, hope so. Lloyd
