Small update…I was able to see the best specialist in the region and he will be doing surgery soon. Hopefully sometime in the next 2-3 weeks we will do the surgery/reconstruction of the foot. Bad news is thats another 4 months out of building anything after surgery. Dennis Edited April 18, 2023 by Corsairfoxfouruncle 3 1
vppelt68
Dennis, model building is only a part of the icing on the cake of life. The most important thing is to take care that the cake itself is good, and then add the icing when available. You'll still be able to hang online with us 🙂. Marklo
Priorities, model building is really way down the list. That said I do find it’s a good distraction in times of trouble/unrest/secession/pandemics/war etc. But first focus on your health.
exdraken
All the best with your foot, speedy ( relatively!) recovery. 🤕 Model building can wait....

Stinks sleeping on the couch for all this time.

Glad to hear you have good quality medical care Dennis, and while long and frustrating, you have a path to recovery. And you always have the BM community for company! Get your modelling stuff moved downstairs When I had my hernia operation a few years back I couldn't manage the stairs for a week or more but had thankfully moved all that I needed (PC and monitors etc) downstairs in advance. Couldn't sleep in the ed for several weeks even after being able to navigate the stairs as whenever I rolled over in the bed it was agony! Couldn't do that on the couch! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Ive considered it but don't want to airbrush in the main living area. I have a Tamiya Lancaster and Italeri AC-130 that are going to be my first builds back. I just feel bad as I signed up to so many group builds and have to abandon them. We’re looking at buying a bed for the dining room so I can avoid the couch.

Maestro Models has an early canopy in 1/48: https://www.rebell.com/saab-j35e-f-j-draken-sen-huv-x-2-vacuform-21573.html Pavla did one in 1/72, however that one is hard to find. AdrianMF
Another suggestion for Dennis @Corsairfoxfouruncle... (and I'm so sorry to hear you are having more medical problems) You might want to try a small kit on a tray and some brushed water-based acrylics? You only need a decent 1/4" flat brush and #2 regular brush for a WWII fighter size plane (no 1/48 Black Widows!). Might make a diverting change. Hope it all goes well. stevehnz
It doesn't look as though mine will make it over the line for this GB, I'm having hassles getting the paint to cure enough to allow a recoat & it is just not worth trying to force it so if I'm awol come Sunday midnight, it'll be added to the shelf of shame & maybe a WiP a bit later. Very probably, another week surely should see it there, I've very little more physical work to do other than get a decent coat of paint on it & at the moment it is taking 2-3 days for it to cure sufficiently to recoat and/or apply decals. I was first too ashamed of myself to write anything, because of being only a lurker here for so long - I should be the GB host and everywhere, all the time you know.
