nimrod54
Here my entry for this weekends Blitzbuild, no complicated camouflage scheme or Bi-Plane rigging, just a simple two colour build with a single aftermarket item. Oh! and definitely no silly challenges from the wings like 'Why not build both' I'm looking at you @Enzo Matrix and @Hockeyboy76, that way I hope to finally finish something for a Blitzbuild. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr 10

nimrod54
As the time by my Never Right watch commemorating the Production Launch of the Eurofighter, ticked towards 11:15, I decided it was time to break out the box and make a start on another Blitzbuild attempt, lets hope that this one will be a successful attempt to drag something over the line. Here is the kit, a replacement pitot and the instructions, and having realised that the watch does not have a date on, a further shot date stamped. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr

nimrod54
I will be going for the two 12 hour stint option for this build, and we are off. I started by assembling the cockpit assembly which I fixed into one half then gave that and the interior a coat of black paint. Once that had dried I painted the headrest and added a simple seat harness made from a thin strip of vinyl tape. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr I also gave the instrument panel a brush over with some light grey to pick out the dial detail before closing up the fuselage. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr As I approach the halfway point of my first stint the model is assembled, the canopy has been masked and I have just finished filling in a couple of openings with Glue and Glaze where other components will fit later in the build. I have done this to stop any overspray getting into the cockpit area. In the background are the smaller components that have been primed in readiness for painting. by John L, on Flickr

TonyW
That decal sheet looks very nice indeed. Quite amazing for such a small kit.

nimrod54
This is the last update for today, the main painting is done, leaving a few details to wrap up that side of the project. The biggest job tomorrow will be the decals, after that it is just a matter of adding the last bits and pieces. by John L, on Flickr

They are by a company called Rocketeer Decals Tony, and are printed in Germany. I am not familiar with them but I agree they do look good.

nimrod54
Well Peeps, I am calling this one done. I thought that it was finished at around 21:00 but when I flipped it over I realised I had missed off the refuelling probe and undercarriage doors. So it was back inside to attach those items, then back outdoors to take another couple of photos in the rapidly fading light. More of the days progress to follow shortly, but for now, here are the photos of my first successful Blitzbuild. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr

nimrod54
The day started with a breakfast of porridge, banana and honey, followed by a questioning look from Molly who was wondering if I would be throwing Vi the squeaky pig for her today. No joy Molls maybe tomorrow. With that it was off to make a start on todays work. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr This was how I left things last night and I just had to add the decals and finish painting the detail parts then fix those in place. by John L, on Flickr By mid afternoon I had finished painting most of the details, leaving the pitot to sort and the first decaling session was underway. It was at this time that I realised I had painted the spine in the wrong colour, it should have been NMF not black, but I decided to leave it until later. Time for a break - toast and marmalade, Eccles Cake and coffee. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr By 18:30 I had finished the decals and the model was up on its wheels. Mrs N, the unsung heroine of all my Blitzbuild attempts, had been busy yet again, preparing our evening meal - gammon shanks Jersey Royal potatoes, broccoli and carrots, with a glass of Theakston's OP to wash it down. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr By 21:00 I thought that I had finished until I flipped the model over and discovered the missing items mentioned in the earlier post. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr
Murdo
Love it! Love it, love it, love it!!! "porridge, banana and honey?"... "porridge, banana and honey"??? Porridge should only ever be eaten with salt. Philistine! Hope my Lightning turns out this good on salted porridge only!
