F-4J VF-142 Ghostriders

Recommended Posts

All ready to start. I got this dirt cheap with no decals. It is the Fujimi

F.3, alias F-4J UK. I have a set of decals coming for NK-212 one of the

last Mig killers of the Vietnam War in 1972.---John

I am off to a start, slow but a start. The kit has no decals so I am detail

painting gauges and switches on the IPs and side consoles. Fujimis'

shapes for the pilot and RIO IPs are a bit off but you won't see much in

72nd scale. I have the ejection seats started, just need to paint the yellow

and black pull ring ejection handles on the seat tops and the red piping

that connects the pull rings. I did the pilot and RIO IPs , I took a very sharp

pencil and drew in some gauges and switches then used a toothpick in different

colors to "paint" them in. The cockpit tub just has the rudimentary colors, I

need to re sharpen the pencil and draw in some gauges and knobs.---John

Cockpit all painted up and assembled. Not sure of the accuracy but most won't be

visible under the closed canopy.---John

The cockpit is installed and the fuselage halves are glued up. I added some fishing sinkers to

the nose for weight just in case.---John

The white is done, masks off. NMF for tail area next. I used Tamiya mini swabs to clean up

some leakage under the masks.---John

What gray color? The bottom is white and the top as of yet is gray plastic color.

What are you calling gray, the white on the bottom or the gray unpainted plastic?

Same paint scheme as this plane.---John
