Plumbum
All ready to start. I got this dirt cheap with no decals. It is the Fujimi F.3, alias F-4J UK. I have a set of decals coming for NK-212 one of the last Mig killers of the Vietnam War in 1972.---John
billn53
It’s a Phantom, what else needs to be said? I’m on board

Guest
I am off to a start, slow but a start. The kit has no decals so I am detail painting gauges and switches on the IPs and side consoles. Fujimis' shapes for the pilot and RIO IPs are a bit off but you won't see much in 72nd scale. I have the ejection seats started, just need to paint the yellow and black pull ring ejection handles on the seat tops and the red piping that connects the pull rings. I did the pilot and RIO IPs , I took a very sharp pencil and drew in some gauges and switches then used a toothpick in different colors to "paint" them in. The cockpit tub just has the rudimentary colors, I need to re sharpen the pencil and draw in some gauges and knobs.---John
Guest
Cockpit all painted up and assembled. Not sure of the accuracy but most won't be visible under the closed canopy.---John
Guest
The cockpit is installed and the fuselage halves are glued up. I added some fishing sinkers to the nose for weight just in case.---John
Guest
The intakes are on and puttied up plus the wings are assembled.---John
Guest
Here is the Microscale sheet I am using for VF-142 Ghost Riders and an image. showing the marking colors.---John
billn53
No need to add nose weight (unless for peace of mind). I’ve never seen a Phantom that wanted to be a tail-sitter.
Guest
Wings on, getting close to painting.---John
Moses
Think about adding seat belts to seats. Eduard makes photoetched to F-4 https://www.mojehobby.pl/products/F-4-seatbelts-grey-STEEL-17277375.html
Guest
I had to do several sessions with putty on the bottom fuselage. I think it's done, I hope.---John
Captain Mark
Looks like some great work being done on the cockpit, especially in a relatively small scale, keep it up! 👊
Guest
Thanks, I just finished gluing the canopy. I'll let it set up good untill tomorrow then start masking and painting. The next Fujimi, F-4E , should be here in a couple of weeks.---John
Guest
The white is done, masks off. NMF for tail area next. I used Tamiya mini swabs to clean up some leakage under the masks.---John
Moses
It may be the fault of the light, but the gray color is weird Edited May 28, 2020 by Moses
Guest
What gray color? The bottom is white and the top as of yet is gray plastic color. What are you calling gray, the white on the bottom or the gray unpainted plastic? Same paint scheme as this plane.---John
Moses
Ah, ok, I didn't notice that the top is still the color of plastic. I didn't write anything
