BLACKCODE Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 This is what I’m building now. A t-55 A from Tamiya with ABER PE parts. I’m making a represantation of one of the many Algerian army armors which participated in the Yom Kippour War in 1973. Sorry if the pictures are too big. This is an original pîcture of algerian T-55 A heading to the egyptian front I started buy buliding the tracks and the wheels. It took 2 days (12h work) to attach all the links and the wheels from MINIART were very hard to adapt to the Tamiya kit Painting and weathering (and chipping) Now I’m buliding the remaining PE parts made for the top section Cheers . 🖐️🙂 7
Stef N. Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Looking good. The sand blasted and weathered paint looks highly effective. Those Miniart tracks are great but annoying in equal measures. 1

Bullbasket Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 That looks as though it will be just as good, if not better than your last build on here. Excellent work. John. 1
Soeren Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Fantastic work and painting. I have a few questions and would be happy to get some insights. Are those Miniart tracks meant to be functional by drilling out the links? And how did you approach the beat up appearance of the hull paint job. Thanks in advance and keep it on. 1

I had to drill only a dozen of links. i think it's a mistake or a miss in miniarts moulds ... the links are "ready".. in theroy . and what concerns the paint (used Tam acrylics) 1- i started with a base coat of a mix of yellow desert and yellow (I had mustard color LOL) 1.a.-then added a few white to the mix to obtain the right color I wanted. with that miw i made a light coat for the pannels etc... 2- the weathering began with a chipping . using dark green... used a tiny piece of sponge 2.a.- the rust was made by myself : a mix of black yellow red and metallic grey + gloss vanish. applied with a brush + coat of gloss vanish 2.b. - then added some brown pannel line (Tamiya). added a coat of gloss vanish again .. after that I used Mig pigments (medium rust) 2.c.- another coat of gloss + north africa dust (pigment and ended with a mix of 20% gloss / 80% mat vanish 1
