Matilda Mk.III Tamiya 1/35

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I finished Tamiya Matilda (kit No. 35300), Phantom markings, from Operation Crusader.

It's built OOB, painted with AK Real Color lacquers.

I tried to keep weathering light and subtle. Weathering is done with combinations of Mig's North Africa Dust nature effects and pigments.

You can find WIP thread here.

Seems I'm  first. Brilliant I really like it. I like the Matilda, it has great character and that is a near perfect rendering of the Tamiya kit.

The painting and weathering are superb, but that exhaust and those tracks are even better than that. I could look at your pictures for hours :)

Impressed.

Thank you! I like Matilda very much as well. I enjoyed the build a lot. There are some details that I was not patient enough to scratch build though that are missing in the kit (like rubber sand shields etc.), but well, next time :)

You've done a good job on that, and well done with the Caunter scheme.

That looks really good Nenad.

I think you managed to capture the dusty look  very well.

Thank you very much guys! I was afraid that I will overdo the dusty look. Especially as I was playing around with a new technique I never used before (using chipping fluid before applying dust) to make the patches of dust. I am still not sure if I am going to use it again, I do not feel very comfortable with it as it looks to me that it is a bit hard to control the result.

I am relieved now that it's finished :phew:

Don't worry. To my untrained eye it looks like you nailed it!

Another thumbs up for the weathering. I see some comments on others about subtle weathering and it is anything but. Yours looks spot on to me.

Thank you guys. Well it's really hard to stop the weathering at the right moment, at least for me. Happy it worked this time :)
