Moarein
Happy New Year to all! I'm uploading some photos of the main deck detailing. Unfortunately, it takes a long time. For the new year, I wish you health above all! And more models

europapete
Hi Ian, I think he uses that setup to thin down the pear wood strips for the deck and other details. Regads, Pete in RI
Moarein
2 hours ago, Brandy said: More outstanding detail. What is that rack for? Ian This stand is for calibrating the width of the strips. Example: If I need 3 mm wide strips, I cut them 4 - 4.5 mm, then put them in the calibrator, and adjust the width by 0.5 mm on both sides. In this way, all strips become perfectly identical at 3 mm width. The thickness depends on the deck - I usually cut them the strips to 0.6 - 0.7 mm thickness - sometimes 1.0 mm - depends of the material. After calibrating them and gluing them to the deck, with sanding I bring them to a thickness of 0.2 - 0.3 mm.
Brandy
I meant the rack on the model. The one with what looks like a lot of beach towels on it that you just made. Ian

I don't know a word of English for this stand - it's kind of like a warehouse for the crew's hammocks. There are on the boards too. This saves space. In addition, they protect against musket fire and boarding hooks
Mike W
This just goes to show how a museum quality model can be made from a plastic kit with skill and patience. Mike

Moarein
The work continues ... I added stairs on the deck as well as boards for the dead eyes. The dead eyes are two sizes, made of walnut and ordered by hismodel.com - Very high quality workmanship! I used ink for coloring - in my opinion it best outlines the texture of the wood, without forming a thick layer, if for example, they are painted with acrylic black paint. 9
Bigdave22014
Ink. Now there's a good idea. I was thinking about wood stain, but I have ink I could use. Thanks for the tip.

Gimme Shelter
Absolutely mind blowingly stunning - and the perfect reason for me never to ever attempt building my own kit of the same when you can do a museum quality job of it instead. Quite stunning.
