892 Sqn Phantom, Revell/Hasegawa 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

This is my 892 Sqn Phantom, shown in the markings of 892 Sqn after a visit to NAS Oceana and getting zapped! Some extras in there include resin tailpipes, intakes, ejection seats, rocket pods etc.

Another very enjoyable kit sprayed with MRP. A mix of decals with some provided by a friend and some Xtradecals. The Xtradecals are not the best fit if I recall. Some photos you will notice the intake upside down which has been rectified on other photos.

Ignoring the inverted splitter plates, this is a stunning build, the paintwork and weathering are absolutely realistic.

Isn't that the Hasegawa reissued by Revell? Anyway, congrats to a fantastic model !!

Very pretty model and I like the ZAP. I notice the external wing tanks are canted outward. Is that the way the kit is engineered?

Cheers. Yes it's the kit engineering on those

Looks superb mate,.... one to be very proud of indeed,....... although in reality I doubt if it would have the canopies open and the wheel extended while on deck too,....... but that is the magic of modelling and I`ve done the same by dropping flaps on folded wings etc. Great zapped schemes too,.... there were some very interesting RN Phantom schemes.

Cheers

Absolutely correct. I figured I would probably only ever build one of these in FAA colours and it may as well be shown off in all its glory!
