Adam Poultney
Finished another one today, Airfix 1/72 Mk1 from the MkVa kit And why not post all my other ones as well, including my second ever kit from years ago, some ones with fairly questionable colours (DW•K especially) from when I just started out moving back to scale modelling from Wargaming, and some more recent ones which are much better. And my second ever kit from years ago, a complete mess of a kit that I definitely did enjoy building, even if I might have done a very poor job of it haha
noelh
Very good. Your earliest Spit seems to have taken on it's own real patina of weathering. Nice collection. Edited May 6, 2020 by noelh

No Nice collection. Haha yeah definitely has weathered away, not really an ideal surface for decals applied with only water to stay on. Almost the entire QJ•B decal is missing from the other side now Edited May 6, 2020 by Adam Poultney
kapam
An excellent collection of Spitfires! You did well keeping your "2nd ever kit" as it shows how far you have come. Would welcome seeing more of your builds. 🙂👍

Aces High
Oh I like them! DW-K looks like it's been in the wars eh? Love it though, it's got character! The Spitfire is surely the most modelled aircraft ever, but there's a reason for that, it's a beautiful machine. Maybe I need some more Spits! I've made that Airfix Mk I, did you try using the red decals for the gun port tape? I had a real battle getting them on, even with Revell Decal Soft to help. I then punctured them all with a needle to make it look like it had just returned from a sortie, to justify my heavy handed gunsmoke weathering!

I then punctured them all with a needle to make it look like it had just returned from a sortie, to justify my heavy handed gunsmoke weathering! I made that one without a single clue how I should weather it, I definitely overdid it a bit but it's sure got character. I broke the gear on that one and repaired it but it sits a bit wonky now. I did something similar with the decals, I punched through them and added a lot of gun smoke. This model is pretty much single handedly responsible for really reviving my enjoyment of scale modelling, before this I did Warhammer 40k models mainly, but I bought an airbrush and did this. Took a while but now I pretty much only build scale models and I love it. On 06/05/2020 at 01:49, opus999 said: Nice collection!
