Panzer IV Ausf. D 1/35 from Tamiya 35096

I wanted to build the late Version from 1940 in Africa. I decided to paint it

with Vallejo MC 70.914 green ochre. Unfortunately I did not think of the  sag.

Should I paint the taillights in red?

Lovely variation in tones on the front hull and cool contrast with the jerrycans.

I wouldn't worry too much about the amount of track sag, there seems to be some variability on panzer iv (derivatives) with regard to that. The panzer iv c, d, f1 and f2 on English wiki don't show much sag if at all. Academy used to have a really cheap aftermarket set of indy link tracks, around the 3-4 pound mark, that fit the tamiya panzer iv but they are hard to find nowadays. If I recall correctly they came supplied with extra sprocket wheels.

Cheers,

Ernst.

Always great to see such a good build from a low cost kit, excellent finish and really good photos, like it 🙂

Hello Don

the sag depends on if the tank is accelerating  (no sag)  or breaking because the drive wheel is

at the front.

So it is not a problem!

That looks good. Including the tracks - you could just say the crew have recently adjusted the tension!

Nice paintwork too.
