Merkava IV Anti-slip Surface Help

Hi all, need help from those who have done the anti-slip surface for their tanks. I have a Hobby Boss 1/72 Merkava IV and would like to do the anti-slip surface as the Spanish master modeller Juan Carlos Carmona has done in the below vid for a 1/35 Meng kit. Would it be viable for a 1/72? I am afraid the rivet and details might get covered.

Any advice, personal recommendations, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I've used Hull Tex by VMS easy to use great finish, not sure that the scale will be right for 1/72 though.
