TSR2 USAF WIF

Recommended Posts

Fifth finish of the year is one I started back in July last year, I had no idea that it would take as much filler or how long it would take. So the premise for this is that the TSR2 project wasn't meddled with by the UK government of the day and became a successful airframe for the RAF and export customers such as the US, being used instead of F111 on OP Combat Lancer hence the bomb load as per the F111's preferred sortie configuration. Built OOB less the pylons taken from a Trumpter RA5C Vigilante kit, bombs and MER's from 2 Hasegawa weapons sets and Printscale F111 decals. Painted with Tamiya acrylics and a 1 1/2 tubes of Sqn green filler used during the build. I know the under carriage doors are not in the correct position but the Airfix instructions have them all open. As usual all comment welcome.

And just to show the size of the TSR2 for those not familiar, with an AV8A

Very nice looking "what if". I like the story. Sorry to hear the model was such a, as we say here in the U.S., "putty monster". Your paint work is good.

Love it! I've always liked the myriad wif schemes that have been done for TSR2. If I had the money I'd be so tempted to build a succession of them from prototype to Gulf War1.

Great build and finish!

Love this, Neil. It's looks so right in these colours... what could have been.

I look forward to seeing this down the club - hopefully sooner rather than later.

All the best,

Tom

Fantastic mate, looks great in the SEA scheme, nice work on the ordnance too - one of my pet hates is the yellow banding!!

I have plans for something similar myself (eventually.....!!)

I would like to do the prototype as well now I know the kits pitfalls but finding another one is unlikely.

Now you’ve done it! Made me hit the “Purchase Now” button.

Makes a change, I've bought 3 kits after seeing your excellent results.

Phil

First time I've so many in one go, quite time consuming but worth the result. It will be a while before I have to do so many in one go.

Thanks for the all the comments

Very nice result!!

Wonder if the USAF would have used such a small radar nose! Then the Thud also has a small one.... a fitting predecessor by the way!

Great job and background story sounds fairly realistic :) Love that bombload on the TSR! Very much a Thud-looking aircraft. I think a Wild Weasel role can be very suitable for the TSR too :)
