1/72 Academy F-14A Tomcat VF-41 "Black Aces"

Recommended Posts

Presenting my go at Academy's new-tool 1/72 F-14A Tomcat built for the "In The Navy" Group Build here on BM.

Overall it was a decent build with good detail. Aftermarket used were Fine Molds plastic seatbelts and decals from a re-boxing of their old-tool Tomcat.

She is built as Fast Eagle 107 of VF-41 "Black Aces" just after the infamous 1981 Gulf of Sidra incident in which this jet and another VF-41 Tomcat, Fast Eagle 102, shot down a pair of Libyan Su-22 Fitter attack aircraft.

Thats a very, very nice F-14! Superb painting and weathering, the decals look painted on. absolutely nailed it I'd say.

Love it.

Spot on and perfectly represented.  I`m convinced that it`s the actual Tomcat.  The results you achieved through your attention to detail is superb!!!!!! :worthy:

Nicely done. Is this the new tooled kit or is it their 1970ish tooling? Overally though I like the weathering and fading.

This is their 2019 tooling which is really impressive to say the least. Probably the best kit out there next to the Fine Molds one.
