That looks really nice Joe.  I have seen a Mac kit in a couple of different hobby shops but I don't think I have ever seen one built before. How well does it go together?

I love it! Just had to go and read through the WIP to see how you did the mottling as it really does look wonderful.

A lovely addition to the cabinet, very well done!

A super looking Phoenix. I like that mottled affect you've achieved.  Those Austro-Hungarian types are interesting and colourful.  Nice little backdrop too.  I have built the MAC Fokker D.VII  and Pfalz D.IIIa and they went together really well (the D.VII was a replacement for a binned Roden D.VII - an absolute pig).  How was the Phoenix to build?

Hi Todders,

The kit isn't bad the cockpit is OK as I was building it OOB. All the parts cleaned up OK. Overall it went together very well except for one part, see below.

I did have three serious problems;

1. The decals were inclined to stick and were difficult to move no mater what solutions I used. Luckily I had a second kit in the attic insulation and was able to 'borrow' some.

2. The red decals supplied foe the wings were not wide enough in chord to cover the wings. So I checked out all the red colours that I had and found one that was a PERFECT match! Well as far as I was concerned it was. And painted the red on having previously laid down the white.

3. No mater what way I tried I could not get the fuselage to upper wing struts to fit. I ended up cutting the struts and removing small bit from these ones until I was happy.

Overall I was very happy with the outcome. It makes up into a rather attractive model.

Nice to see an unusual subject presented here. The A-H colour schemes are very attractive IMO but you have also captured the mottle effect exceptionally well. Great model.
