HMS DREADNOUGHT

MACALAIN

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am not a ship builder, ordinary I make planes in 1/72.

But to change a little bit I have made a few British ships of WW I in 1/700.

I have also made a mistake and buy 2 HMS Dreadnought from Trompeter.

My question is, is it possible to do something else with this second kit ?

Thank you for your help

Best regard

Alain,

You haven't said which version of the Trumpeter DREADNOUGHT you have.  They do 3: 1907, 1915 and 1918 configuration.

Assuming that you have 2 of the same date DREADNOUGHTs, I would have thought you have 2 options:

1.  Modify the second to one of the other configurations (though I would have thought that it would be a fair bit of effort for not much gain when you can get the later layouts in kit form)

2.  Modify the second to a BELLEREPHON.  Hull shape I think is near enough in that scale to get away with it although there will be a lot of modification needed in the superstructure, foremast and secondary armament.

Personally I'd go with the second option but then I enjoy taking  the hullform from one kit and scratchbuilding much of the rest
