Looking good John,

 

I have used Clearfix for a number of years and it is fine with enamels but you have to watch it with acrylics. It will strip varnish, paint and decals if you are not careful! I apply a coat of enamel varnish around cockpits these days to reduce the risk when gluing canopies on, and avoid putting on any decals close to the canopy until after it is in place.

That's useful to know, thanks. I was a very early convert to acrylics, back to when Tamiya started to become available in the UK, but I've gone back almost totally to enamels They're just so much more predictable.

Lovely work John and an excellent result with the old tool P-40E Kittyhawk. I've just noticed the pilot is wearing a red cravat!! Debonair indeed for the desert! All the best. Mike.

Upper surface 29 Dark Earth and 225 Middle Stone

Undersides Precision Paints M113 Azure Blue

Prop 33 Matt Black and 24 Trainer Yellow

Spinner HS216 Rust

Guns 85 Coal Black

Exhausts 171 Antique Bronze

 

Decals all from Airfix P-40B starter set expect Y in code and serials from original kit sheet

 

Top Coat Humbrol Matt Cote.
