Working on the AHRLAC a bit

 

Definitely a real red letter day, I finally got around to sorting out my paints and glues.

 

With one or two ( ahem) duplicates to go into storage.

Another red letter day; rearranged the WIP shelf and the shelf of doom ( items on the right hand side) the Junkers and the Morane are WIP.

 

And  the rest of the WIP and slightly less doomed.

Too many really, but I consider the 109s as a single project, if I can just find the tail wheels I can start to move them along but in a positive note I did find the missing decal sheet for the G2 today

Don'tcha just love treasure hunts? I'm in the middle of trying to find the bits I bagged up for my Flying Wing I'm trying to get back to.

My two little F16s are done. Not bad could be a bit neater but look reasonably good on the shelf. More photos in the GB gallery.

 

I think finishing the Morane Saulnier and the two high wing builds are the next order of business.

 

No I just realised the Bristol GB ends in two weeks, so the three Bristols will probably get worked on next. Doable in two weeks hmm we’ll see….

 The current state of the two scouts. The upper wings are done. So both need a nose, an interior and an undercarriage. Won’t get too upset if I miss the GB deadline, will probably be a bit less ambitious when signing up for future multiple overlapping GBs

V1 and the III/JG 53 E4 are back on the bench and done.

 

Otherwise working away on my high wing builds and my three Bristols.

as is the Junkers

And the Graham White type20.

 

Must finish the two 109s I think all they need is the rf line. Then it’s the Italian G2 and one of the G6s probably the Swiss.

Quite a lot are very nearly finished. The Bristols, the Junkers, the Graham White, the Morane most of the 109s. I’m hopeful for single digits by Christmas

My Dad passed away last week and we had the funeral today, so not a lot of bench time, but I did make a little balsa chuck glider as a gift for the service to remember him, modelling was the biggest  shared interest we had, although he was more into flying models  he was a keen scale modeller too.

 

I thought this looked suitably nineteen fifties and would have been the kind of thing he would have built as a kid.

 

im hoping he’ll be looking down with approval on my future modelling activities

Haven’t gotten near the bench in the last few days owing to my Dad and my ME flaring up a bit. But I started reading this I’m only as far as Fokker but  it’s proving to be a goldmine of source material. So far I want to build an Aviatik DVII, a Halberstadt DII and at least one of the Fokker V1,V2 and V3 series ( the line which more or less led to the DVII)and a V4( the Dr1 prototype) 

 

 

This is the V1, way ahead of its time.

 

Of course trying to find drawings led me to this, and I managed to order up a copy for less than a tenner including postage. I’m positively dizzy with anticipation or maybe that’s my ME.

Been resin casting and molding today. Three engines( not perfect but will be fine inside a cowl)  four sets of wheels three seats, eight Vickers/Spandaus and the ends of the ARLAAC winglets. 

I can now finish the Bristols and my Sopwith Swallow.

 

The J6 is very nearly done.

 

And the type 20 isn’t that far behind.

 

Although I really must finish my two French Fancy entries. I have two weeks. Should be more than enough time. The Morane Saulnier only needs the tail control wires, prop, engine and wheels added. The triplane should be a fairly quick build.

Mostly working on my high wing GB trio at the moment. All 1:48 scale, all scratchbuilt.  All three are proceeding along nicely. The Junkers is almost finished, the Graham White needs rigging and a few bits added, the AHRLAC is the furthest behind, I’d say it’s about 80% done but should progress pretty quickly from here, the only big job left on it is the cockpit interior and scratching two ejector seats…,

Sometimes you have to spoil yourself  a trip to the local toy shop. I mean I couldn’t let the stash become depleted. Plus that’s me sorted for the Mig 21 GB if it wins the bunfight.
