Cracking the WIP - 2024 Group builds

Recommended Posts

GBs coming thick and fast :) this week I’m going to concentrate on my salty sea dog builds and also try to move the FWs on.

But I’ll be adding a 1/144 C47 a 1/72 Corsair II and a 1/72 Crusader into the mix as those GBs start over the next few weeks.

IMG-2210.jpgA thorough clean up…

Plan for this week is to finish my  Salty Sea Dog builds and probably start my Dehavilland builds.

However I have a minor crises I have run out of shelf space.. however I have space in both my shelving units to add a few extra shelves so that’s probably the first order of business…

IMG_2165.jpgThe Sablatnig is almost finished just needs the exhaust manifold, two decals and some detail painting. I’m kind of holding off until I  resolve the shelf crises. My other three SSD builds are in various states of assembly.

The shelving crisis has been averted. Less than €25 got me a length of oak effect chipboard that I got three new shelves out of and a length of 5mm aluminium rod that I cut up for pegs and still have enough left for future modelling projects. Now to finish that Sablatnig…

One of my more esoteric GB proposals, go on you know you want to.

IMG-2250.jpg

The Morser Karl is getting the most attention.

IMG-2233.jpg
As well as the Airfix Vampire

IMG-2242.jpg

Some pre work for the Go large GB.

I’m also working away on the Sablatnig and the swift boat.

Got some paint on the swift boat and the control lines on the Sablatnig.

And also started to repair my laser engraver. It’s a great little machine, actually made using repurposed CD drive mechanisms.

The follower on the x stage( the one that mounts the laser) was worn out so I bought a spare stage and extracted the part, which is now in situ. One of the connections to the power switch is broken so I need to resolver that and hopefully that’s it. It had about a 100mm range and the laser is powerful enough to score or cut plastic card or cut kabuki/masking tape, as you can imagine very useful for mask making.

IMG-2282.jpgNot much modelling going on today, but lots of gardening, and taking advantage of the weather as someone put it ‘ Summer my  favourite two weeks of the year’

Managed to get some paint on some of the Wallace and grommet bits and did a bit more on the swift boat, mostly rattlecans all five minute jobs in between other jobs.

Karl, Wallace and Grommit, the Drakken and the Vampire are all very nearly finished. I’m hoping to get some or all of them done tomorrow.
