TEXANTOMCAT
Herewith the lovely Airfix Tiger - despite my misgivings on the CADs she is every bit the correct Tiger and the kit is superb. Fit is excellent, in fact you could assemble it with dabs of superglue. The only filling was of the fuselage seam, the cockpit might benefit from a bit more sanding for a snug fit. Everything else went together like a dream. In the cockpit the compass should be painted grey, and the rectangular recesses behind each seat are in fact open on the full size (the seatbelts go through the gap) but I simply painted them black. The instrument panel decals are brilliant. In fact, apart from seatbelts I cannot see how any etch set could improve the pits. I did add a stay to hold the cowling open. I might add that the jig used to file down the rear fuse is very clever and works incredibly well- nice one Airfix! Originally I wondered why they didn’t do the strakes option OOB but now I see why. I would have finished it earlier but I was waiting for the SBS rigging set and Eduard belts from Model Hobbies -3 weeks later and they still haven't arrived and no reply to comms so won't be using them again. So gave up waiting and rigged with Oasis wire (60p a pack from Hobbycraft - 10 cm long stainless strips). Painted with Tamiya AS12, detailled painting with Humbrol enamels- Mig Blue Black PLW and starship filth oilbrusher - probably overdid it a tad. Decals were part OOB - the bands were fantastic, opaque, fitted well and the fuselage band just dropped on, and the rest I made myself to depict a Sywell machine. Dab of Klear to finish and Vallejo matt varnish on the wingwalk strips. There really is very little to criticise - I should have thinned the doors more and perhaps the screens are a bit thick but I doubt you could get them much thinner in injected plastic - a couple of vacform screens would be the icing on the cake. The Albion is built OOB painted with Humbrol enamels and the figures are ICM/Revell (I'm not known for my figure painting!!!!) Hope you like it! Silver Fox
Lovely work, you make me want to buy one, but I've still got a couple of Aeroclub ones to do along with a Dh 60M. I do like your dioramas, all very well presented and do tell a story.

TEXANTOMCAT
Thank you very much! on a slight side note as someone picked me up on it the other day- Sywell’s Tigers were unique in having the fuselage band in front of the strakes not over them🙂 ATB TT
Homer
Don't worry about it, you will always get someone who will try and pick faults with your work .The model is a fantastic piece of work and that's all you can hope for ,if you are happy with it then thats all that matters.👍
TEXANTOMCAT
Thanks Homer - actually on this occasion I was right! for some reason our (Sywell RFS) Tigers had the fuz band forward of the strakes, which helpfully made marking this out easier (which is probably why Brooklands Aviation did it in the first place!) This machine was marked up in memory of a mate who passed away this year and owned and flew G-DHZF from the Sywell in these colours -(confession - I didnt have the right fin flash!) https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/G-DHZF ATB TT Edited November 30, 2020 by TEXANTOMCAT
