Antti_K
Trevor, here comes the "License" Look, how dark the circles are. I remember reading (probably it was in one of Troy Smith's excellent posts) that DN -väri was based on the later RLM65 which was much more grey in hue than that seen during the Battle of Britain. MT-213 landing at Suulajärvi AB in March, 1944. Cheers, Antti 3
Max Headroom
@Antti_K brilliant! I will now carry on, confident that I may not be wrong. Maybe. Trevor

Max Headroom
Small steps... Ive checked the surface for the grosser imperfections and have now decided that it’s time to gloss in preparation for my favourite part of the model - the Sticky Fest! Obviously the cockpit needs masking off first and so I took the opportunity to put the canopy on temporarily. Expecting to have to use PVA glue to affix it temporarily, imagine my delight when I found that it was a snug push fit. It’s beautifully clear too, so the cockpit details can be seen. I’m aware that the framing hasn’t been done yet, but I’ll get to that later. And for the umpteenth time, the aerial mast was knocked off. 10 thou sheet plasticard again. Masking next, then rattlecan varnish. Wish me luck. Trevor
Max Headroom
A little later than I hoped because I couldn’t get onto the forum, I present the 109, now with an identity! Glossed, sealed and matted after these pictures were taken, it’s now a case of finishing the undercarriage and prop and replacing the port wing tip probe which suddenly went awol, I can see this being completed in the next couple of days. Enough wafflage, here are the piccies..... The transfers went on a treat and reacted well to the Humbrol Decalfix solution without any adverse reaction. Looking at the artwork and the photos, it appears that (thankfully) most of the miriad of minute stencilling wasn’t re applied after the repaint, so I have left it at the fuel and octane markings which are clearly visible. Nearly there! Trevor
fubar57
Good stuff Trevor. I managed to keep my antenna mast on to the end but knocked off the pitot tube four days ago. Putting on the 'lil bits now and will do the antenna at the end George

Max Headroom
Afternoon! Having had a few days rest from plasticing, I had a quick burst this afternoon and have now got it on its legs. Spinny thing at the front also fitted. I see the finishing post Trevor

Max Headroom
@corsaircorp thanks! It is a rather attractive scheme and I’m glad you like it. Remaining things to do are: 1. Attach wheels 2. Attach and paint canopy and aerial post 3. Finish off the radiator flaps 4. Scuff it up a bit Done! Trevor
Max Headroom
1 and 2 done..... 3 is on the way and 4 soon after. I also found a spare pitot tube (or something that looks very much like it) on one of the sprues. I therefore drilled out the attachment point to give it a better join. I’m not sticking on all the transfers as that would drive me insane, but I’ve just noticed there are Hoffman (?) stencils for the prop blades. Red triangles will give a little flash of colour there I think. Hopefully tomorrow will see me get this over the line Trevor
Vesa Jussila
So this is almost done. Good progress.
Max Headroom
Hello all. As the amended title says, so close! The only bit to add is the cockpit canopy and I’ll do that tomorrow. A little light scuffing at the port wing root etc. and I’ll call it done. I have decided against the transfers for the prop blades, on the basis that when I sprayed the Tamiya semi-gloss acrylic varnish onto the prop/spinner assembly, the Humbrol acrylic white had a reaction and crazed slightly. There comes a point in a build where you have to step back and say that anything else is just tinkering and may mess things up at the last moment. So canopy and slight weathering and that’s it. No photos tonight, but hopefully an RFI tomorrow Trevor
Max Headroom
I’ve now stuck on the lid, so apart from weathering I’m calling this done An enjoyable build with only a couple of areas to look out for, I’d definitely recommend this kit to anyone who wants a Gustav to their collection. Here are a few pictures. I’ll do an RFI with a link soon. Thanks to everyone for chipping in with advice and encouragement. Trevor
