Sea Vixen Grey

Recommended Posts

Thinking of building my Dragon Sea Vixen FAW2 next, but have a concern over the top colour.

What is the recipe using Tamiya?

Ideally i'd like to mix it, but if I have to buy who does the closest blue/grey?

Already got a new nose and bigger seats before anyone says "get a new nose and bigger seats".

Serge, where can I find that colour matching software, please?

This to my mind is all fundementally flawed as you are matching  and quoting equivelants to  H123  which is in itself an equivelant colour to the colour used on Sea Vixen.

You should be matching to BS381c Hue 640 EDSG which is the correct colour!

It seems Tamiya has only dark sea grey on its range. Ganze features H333 extra dark sea grey.

Gunze's H333 is a bit too dark in my experience.

David, this

free download software for Android:

https://hobby-color-converter.soft112.com/

or in Android Play Market.

But this software only for alleged

equivalent, not for mix.

Of course, if the BS were there, I would give the equivalent, but

sorry Selwyn,  this free software have FS, RAL, RLM standart but no BS or Soviet standard. 🤗

I just only complemented the answer:

Humbrol, 123 Extra Dark Sea Grey.

Because topic starter requested the equivalent of Tamiya!

But in program no 100% close equivalent!

🤗

Nevertheless, this is potentially an interesting program, it is constantly expanding and updated (including thanks to modelers), so it is possible that someday a BS standard will appear there.

This is convenient for me in that I can put in it those paints that I have, saving myself from double purchases.  By the way, as you see in the screenshot, I have these paints, and maybe I even made my own paint chip, so, probably, we can check how adequate the equivalents of this program are!

😉😁😎

P.S.

I'm ordinary user this software only, not owner or shareholder, and as I understand it, this is not Russian, North Korean or Chinese software, in case you's are afraid of hackers. Probably this Spain software.

One does not contradict the other! 😉😁 Simply, I may be biased right now, but if there is a choice between Tamiya and Humbrol, I will prefer Tamiya, even if I need to mix several Tamiya colors to get the color I need.  Alas, I am no  teenager and the Humbrol enamel solvent is sensitive for me, the Humbrol acrylic purchased for the test turned into flakes inside the jar despite the fact that I never opened it! Humbrol enamel very best for brushes.

However, many modelers already wrote about this, including on the Britmodeler.

If you want to keep things simple I'd go for Tamiya XF-54, seen that used a few times...

Let’s still wait for me to compare photos tomorrow, I can do them today, but it’s already evening and therefore the photos will not be taken under natural light.

Now now, let's play nice!

Thanks for the above. Not a fan of Humbrol as it gummed up my last airbrush. Will see if I have any Tamiya XF-54 in my stash as a trip to the LMS isn't going to happen any time soon.

Thanks for your input. Have a beer in the sun.
