Wing tip lights on Me109a

Prussian Blue

Recommended Posts

The 109 A to E series had wing tip lights which were like bumps in a notch on the wing tips, about 1/5 chord from the leading edge. Unlike the G series photo in the above link.

I believe I have read on several occasions about different planes that blue glass was sometimes used for starboard ID lamps as the incandescent bulbs had a very yellow tinge - blue + yellow = green

Not entirely convinced myself as that colour mix is true for primary pigment colours, but yellow isn’t a primary light colour.

nNot a 109, but i did have at one time the glass fitting for the starboard wing trailing edge light from one of our Phantom FGR 2's, and that had blue glass in it, but when illuminated it did look green. HTH.
