British "Wyvern" S.4

Recommended Posts

Ready for inspection is my 1:72 Trumpeter British "Wyvern" S.4. I built her straight from the box, the only difference being that I use Vallejo Model Air to paint the build. The invasion stripes are all airbrushed, this proved tricky, measuring and masking but it all turned out ok in the end. Aside from that, the kit went together well, only the canopy causing a little head scratching. I love aircraft with folding wings, so had to build her with them in the folded position. All in all a fab kit! Thanks for looking.

Excellent. A very strange aeroplane in many ways. I've just been reading Eric Brown's "Wings of the Navy" and he isn't terribly complimentary about the characteristics of the Wyvern.

I've always had a soft spot for the Wyvern, think it's a great looking aircraft. Lovely build, really good looking model.

Very very nice, looks bigger than 1/72.

Also a sucker for folding wings and will display them folded as long as the kit gives the option. And I have many treasured memories of constantly smacking my head against the Wyvern at Yeovilton because our club stand was always beneath it at the Yeovilton show 😂

Great model 👍

I think one of our members (I won't name names to save embarrassment) suffered  a physical injury due to a head/wing leading edge contact moment with the Wyvern. The Wyvern survived the impact unscathed. It was a tough old bird.

Interesting looking aircraft, I bet they were noisy!

In the mid/late 50s when living in Wigan, I visited RNAS Stretton several times with an aviation club I was a member of (MGAE), one of the aircraft operating from there at the time was the Wyvern, the sound that it made was out of this world, a combined scream/howl, it was out of this world, never to be forgotten.

Not a great fan of weathering, however, the finish on your model is excellent.   Robin.
