I’ve never tried ppp before, is it good stuff to have around?

I’ve seen it mentioned a few times in build threads, but never knew what it was!

Not a clue, just got it. Previously I used Revell's filler which was.... Lacking

It absolutely brilliant, apply it, get a damp cotton bud and wipe off the excess done !

Or leave to dry, again use damp cotton bud to remove surplus.

Filling now takes minutes !

Cheers Pat

Upper wing surfaces on and wing root had some gaps that I put the new filler to use on, and wow! I am impressed. It's a very good product, I'll need to get that from now on 😂

Less impressed with the amount of places filler is being needed on this brand new kit, oh well... It's modeling not Lego, all part of the fun :D

And a quick guest appearance from that mk1 that's not for the GB, also progressing at a good pace again now. Brush painted because...  idk, I felt like it, might as well get some hairy stick practice in

If I've read correctly and your Mk.1 has been brush painted then good work getting such a smooth finish

Today's progress on the Mk XIV

77fd0a681ea3d933ffd125cfd9a6992d.jpg

I've added the wingtips and the tailplane. The tail parts didn't fit as well as I'd have hoped for a modern kit... Bit disappointing Airfix, still it looks like a Spitfire

Also flew out another Spitfire on War Thunder, a Mk.Vb, I flew escort for a lone B25 with another Spitfire further above

A Ta154 attacked us but my fire combined with the defence from the B25 had it going down in flames.

However, as we were distracted a G55 came in from behind and liberated my wings from my aircraft. First the wingtip and engine were hit, then he came around for a second pass and shot the other wing clean off.

I don't think the pilot got out of this one

Hmmm just not having any luck with that game are you ?

Haha no I don't really fly spitfires very often so not that good at them, I prefer stuff with the guns all in one place like later 109s, although the Fw190s are nice because they got both in the wings and nose. Mossie is my current favourite, and I'm just starting out British jets with the Meteor.

Next up: cooling intakes under the wings, the underside looks kinda empty without them

And that's those added

One 5am filling session later..... I really should have slept instead but oh well....

Today's first job will be cleaning up the filler and figuring out why there's yet another Spitfire on my desk....

Filler's cleaned up and I have the prop assembled, not glued of course.

This tailwheel..... Fitted to make sure it went on with no problems but then I immediately lost it on the desk...... A while of searching and making a mess later I found it... Decided just to glue it in place now, I can use a hairy stick for the tyre.

Main gear on- it's all over silver and I find doing this seperatly to be a real motivation drain.

Right after a break from this kit I'm back to working on this again. As a bit of an experiment I decided not to preshade this model and instead do everything with washes after the main colour is down.

This is more like what I originally learnt to do with painting, having done mostly Warhammer 40k before scale models. With that it was primer, base colour, shade recesses with a wash, sharp highlights on the edges, move onto the next colour, compared to the primer, preshade, single paint for the actual colour then perhaps a wash, making heavy use of the airbrush that is more what I would do with scale models.

I primed the model in white, well half of it and ran out. Thankfully the local hobby shop (wargaming stuff but they stock some good hobby products) is now doing collection orders on one day per week. Two cans of primer that I bought should last me a while.

Tamiya XF16 Flat Aluminium was used for the silver and then citadel nuln oil for the shading.

Well, it seems to have worked well enough:

Nice job Adam. I avoid silver/NMF where ever I can - I am not brave enough 'cause it shows up all my errors and build faults, but yours looks great! Well done.

That is the problem with silver.... Can't wait to see the mess my next Valiant ends up as in that colour!

Anyway, I added the canopy and some decals are on now. They go on pretty nicely and have gone down into the panel lines well enough.

0f77d4abd9dcbd0357cad236d6faa9aa.jpg

One of these serials got knocked and I didn't notice until it was too late.... Oh well, it's only slightly wonky, and on the underside.

The prop is painted, I just need to finish it with the decals that are supposed to go on.

Once I've done that, I'll add the engine exhausts, add the pitot tube, do some weathering and the model will be complete.

Adam, Well done! If I blur my eyes a little it does look like a V-bomber in anti-flash white. Ray
