Aardvark
Hi folks ! On the official Modelsvit Facebook page, today, https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2620455448223490&id=1854784001457309 information appeared about the beginning of the development model of this absolutely rare modification long-range radar night fighter Yak-9SD: The lack of information and published about this modification is due to the fact that it was a night version, painted in overall black, during only at deep night, so it was not possible to take any photos. John Thompson
The overall finish on this aircraft was an early version of Vantablack, which made it almost completely invisible at nighttime. Several of the ground crew were injured when, in their hurry to prepare the aircraft for combat, they accidentally ran full-tilt into it and suffered concussions and bruises. This could make an interesting "What if", I suppose. I thought of joining together two 1/72 Encore Yak-9D's, just as a joke - that kit is already a joke, so two of them would be twice as funny! But how do You know about work on "Stalinblack" enamel? This is still classified information !!! Initially, this paint was developed in the secret laboratories of the NKVD for the mustache of Stalin, who began gray-haired. But tests on the mustache of volunteers showed the complete non-photo-hygiene of such a mustache, the mustache looked just a black spot. The invention would have gone unnoticed, but once Vasily Stalin, the son of Stalin once drew attention to a bottle with a strange paint standing on his father’s table. After reading the test results, he decided to paint several new Yak-9SDs from his regiment. Then you accurately described the reasons why the paint did not find distribution! B.R.
