An update.............

The turret is almost complete, a little tidying up and some dirt to go.

Exciting times seeing all those little bits starting to come together. A little experimental posing then, seeing what looks good where, nothing glued in place yet with some fragile bits not added and the turret just sat on top. But I'm pleased with where this is headed.

The next job is to get those wheels on and see if I can get all 8 to touch and the front 4 to point in the same direction!

I hope that each member of the crew knows which pack is his, otherwise somebody is going find it hard looking for his clean shreddies! Looks good Phil.

All eight touching & the front four pointing in the same direction! Ideally I would have liked to get more “turn” on them, but the size / length / diameter of the various bits prevented that. I feel I’ve messed on with the wheels & their fitting enough, it doesn’t look it but those two photos represent a couple of afternoons work & overnight glue drying time.

The rear wheels fitted after a 5mm drill bit was used to ease the axle openings & the front wheel’s hubs were extended with plastic rod. It was a bit flimsy at times but has dried solid & square.

Time for a beer, have a good weekend!

An update!

Not much done over the weekend as Saturday morning started with me picking up a lot of the fence that had decided to lie down for a rest! Got that sorted (kind of) and I got some time in the shed this morning having bodged the fence for another year.

The postie brought these on Saurday morning to replace the rather nasty black plastic ones in the kit, whilst they're not covered in a manufacturer's name they are certainly an improvement on the kit items & cheap! Just a tenner off that evil bay including postage and I've wasted little time getting them onto cocktail sticks for painting.

Sorry I've missed this thread so far.  So jumping back a few days I am confused as ASLAV wheels should be too small for a LAV3.  ASLAV is a LAV 2 while your Canadian model is a LAV 3 - 325/85R16 XML tyres versus 1200R20 XML.  Mind you LAV 2 wheels have been changed over the years but have they grown from 16 inch to 20 inch rims?

Thanks for the interest folks.

On the wheels;

The supplied kit ones are the black plastic “real rubber” type & I think they just look awful. As they are very visible on the vehicle I decided from the outset they would have to be replaced.

The first set of wheels I found were for the Stryker vehicle but these were £25 plus another £5 for postage! Far too much in my opinion. The search for wheels continued on that well known internet site for some days, there were actually very few available world wide & certainly none under £20.

This lack of wheels came close to meaning the model stayed in the box. So when I found these bad boys for £10 including postage I grabbed them!

On the vehicle they look the business, if they are the wrong size then I can’t tell and they are a 100% improvement on the kit supplied ones.

If you think that’s bad, wait until you find out that the Canadian sentry on stag is actually a German with some British webbing carrying an American rifle!

Hey if they look right thats great.  I was just surprised they were anything like the right size. The fact your using whatever bits you can to represent what you need exactly follows my modelling philosophy.

Update.......

Getting  there, the sentry should be wearing the temperate pattern of CADPAT, the digital pattern of camouflage made of 4 colours, so......

I’m not convinced to be honest, but I figure that by the time he’s on the turret surrounded by kit he’ll blend in & that’s the idea right?
