Something that I have never done. Although I have some models in process, I did not feel like continuing with them, so I looked at the Bandai boxes related to STAR WARS that I have in hiding and decided on this kit. What can I say about him that hasn't already been said? Gorgeous detail, gorgeous and finely detailed pieces and a perfect fit. A candy. The construction is already quite advanced and I decided to start this post because I think I will not stop its assembly. Of its assembly I can say that it has been a suffering due to the fact that the arrangement of the different pieces has been chaotic in sprues. If you had to build a leg you had to take a piece from sprue C1, another from sprue C2, another from sprue A and two other pieces from sprue B (it is an example, it has not literally been like this). Something that has been very heavy. Well, the cockpit. I have painted it entirely using Vallejo MC paints. Andrés S. Hi everyone. The base color indicated in the instructions is 45% white, 45 % neutral gray, 5% black and a little blue. But with this mixture you would get a too dark gray for my taste. Finally, I made it with 30% neutral gray, 70% white and a little blue. I've done some dirt / shading with Gunze's H-333 and applied oil from the Vallejo range of effects. Andrés S. Posted April 5, 2020 Author Share Posted April 5, 2020 (edited) The painting phase has come to an end with highlighting the details with oil and varnishing everything with Vallejo satin. Now I have the base problem. That I do not have and I will have to order from an online store and I do not remember if I keep or throw away the grass and other items to represent a terrain. If I hadn't been in this situation, I could have gone the next day to my usual store and got what I needed, but it can't be: not for now. I would like to add some fallen tree branch and pigments to the feet. Regarding the base, I think I will have to make some arrangement with the frame of a photo frame. It is electrostatic grass of 2 and 4 mm in length of 3 different shades. Must be used with an electrostatic lawn applicator. The commercialized applicators are very expensive (from €50 to €100) but I made one following the steps of a YouTube video and it all cost me €6. I leave you the link in case you are interested in making the bases of your models. He is from a Spanish modeler and speaks logically in Castilian but has subtitles and also just by seeing the images the process is well understood. Regards. Andrés S. Posted April 30, 2020 Author Share Posted April 30, 2020 Penultimate step before being able to fit it into finished models: applying pigments to the feet. I have used the references of Vallejo Siena Claro, Sombra Natural and Sombra Calcinada. I have heard around that if the pigments have their fixing liquid but I have done it by putting them on the feet and distributing them with a brush dipped in water. To fix them, once the water has evaporated, I have sprayed matt varnish on them. I don't know if it will be the correct method but I have done so. The first layer of grass should be glued with white glue, diluted approximately 20%, applied with a flat brush. Once the glue is dry, it is recommended to use this glue but spray it for the next layers of grass. There are several brands of railway modeling that market it. It is recommended to use grass of a short length (2 mm) first to help the following layers, which should be somewhat longer (4 or 6 mm), to maintain vertically. On YouTube there are several tutorial videos on how to use it. Beautiful detailing, I especially like the dirt accumulated at the back of the cockpit floor - really brings it to life.
