ICM's 1:48 Junkers Ju 88C-6b (back on track!)

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, here's my next project, ICM's Ju 88C-6b. I hope it fits well.

I'll be painting it as Heinrich Prizn zu Sayn Wittgenstein's machine.

After a full day of work, here's where I am now, a fully buily airframe. The kit has some nasty issues though:

Reversed cowlings and wheel covers.

Reversed flame dampers.

Engine bulkheads are too wide and need to be sanded down if you want the cowlings to fit.

The wings take a lot of work to put in place.

The cockpit is the best area of the kit, everything there fits perfectly.

Nice.  Got that kit myself.  Does your kit have the single m/g position on the rear of the cockpit glazing, or a double?

It has the double glazing for both rear machineguns.

Well, this build has hit a wall. The ICM decals are complete trash, they stick like hell to the surface, without the possibility of being able to move them after placing them. I've lost the two fuselage crosses plus the C9 code, so I won't be building this aircraft.

That's a shame.  No chance of sourcing another set?

No, but I have two decal sheets for a Bf 110G-4. I'll paint my Ju 88 entirely black, with markings for Werner Streib's aircraft.

I won't let this model beat me. I used Bf 110G decals in 1:48 and came up with this, a Ju 88C-6b flown by Walter Ehle. Not accurate, but it looks good.

what colors are you using that allow you to paint & decal the kit within 3 hours? (i.e. between messages 7 + 8 )

Richard

I use Revell Aqua acrylic colours. They dry really fast.
