Cold War Brits 35th Scale

Recommended Posts

Hi

I`m finding it difficult sourcing British Cold War infantry of the 70s and early 80s with SLR, GPMG, etc. The kind of standard infantry you`d find in Germany at the time.

Any suggestions?

It`s even seems tricky getting contemporary pics, but the above is representative of the kind of infantry figures I`m looking for. Top left with SLR.

TIA

Those enactor pics are not bad but ........

kit varied a bit especially out on excercises mate, no shirts worn under 58 pattern jackets in summer as they were thick and heavy, we had bods wearing Portugese lizard cam shirts under 58, and US woodland most hated wooden SLR, it was orrible when wet, two poncho carriers on webbing above and below kidney pouches, one for NBC kit and one for poncho, pick helve carried across pouches at back - it flipping hurts with a bergen otherwise, Berghaus bergens bought privately of all shapes, windproof smock if you could acquire one πŸ˜‰ two ressi cases at back instead of kidney pouches, NI patrol boots, NI gloves,Β Β any extra pouches you wanted and could fit on, inc US water bottles, might have a few pics I can share with you if you would like to see them ? Hope this helps a bit

Weapons are probably easier to find than figures!Β  Italeri do a Modern Light Weapons set which has the SLR and Sterling,https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/IT6421?result-token=bMo7A Β  and Live Resin do a very nice GPMG set (LLRE35088)Β https://www.live-resin.com/w-a-s/menu-1.html?start=78

Thanks for the replies. I have given-up getting a ready made solution, and am going my own route.

593jones- I`ve got myself a couple of the Italeri sets and they look quite nice.Β πŸ‘

mbthejester- When I was in the reserves, we had a chap that wore his Brechin City shirt under his jacket; something I won`t be modelling for all sorts of reasons!Β πŸ˜€

Β

Thanks for the helpful advice!

Cheers, Ian

Lol, but it would be authentic and add just a tad of colour to the cabbage effect πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

Actually, you make a very good point; I`m going to consider that! πŸ‘πŸ˜€:cheers:Β

I`ve had that before:

People telling me: "Chinook was NEVER called the `wokka wokka`", "no-one would EVER wear anything other than regulation kit on exercise or operations."

I must have been hallucinating when I heard and saw those things then, it must have been the exhaustion.Β πŸ˜€

Β

When I get round to it, the football shirts a go-er, I`ll post here. All I have to do now is make the figures.Β

Suffice it to say that on my first exercise I wore a Barbour over my coveralls.

No prizes for guessing which bit of the Army I was in! It was a lot more relaxed in those days.
