SARO Skeeter - Aeroclub 1/72

Recommended Posts

I'm always very pleased to be gifted kits by kind fellow BMers and this is no exception.

This one's a very kind gift from Bill (perdu) - thanks Bill - as a reaction to my new found interest in helicopters.

I must say it's a challenging kit and it's tiny (see below). That said, the encouragement I've had here and the help I've received from the custodians of the subject, the Historic Army Air Flight, made me want to try to do a good job. Thanks everyone.

The kit is from Aeroclub of course and there are various bits and pieces added as described in the WiP here.

Colourcoats paints, of course, in this case brushed - the airbrush would have blown it away.

…and, for some perspective, the Spitfire from 'An Unexpected Journey' with Ida still clinging to the back:

Excellent finish , I remember laughing when john did it , have a picture of one on  the wing of a certain V bomber released at the same time and think the skeeter kit had the same amount of plastic in it as the Vulcans U/C doors !!

Blimeyoreilly Ced what an anniversary present, for the rest of us

The Skeeter looks wonderful mate, I am really glad I sent it to you

I am aware that I didn't have a clue how to go about making the masterpiece of it that you have, tour-de-force describes this perfectly

Now what else do I have in the Army copter stash?

;)

You must have the patience of a saint, that is one tiny kit, nice job CedB and not something we see very often.

Thanks gary :) Patience? Not me I'm afraid, I was close to insanity with this one!

That's a great little 'copter...

The glazing has come out really well, very clear.

Even if you're having a break from rotorcraft, you'll have to do one of these at some point  https://www.scalemates.com/kits/amp-72002-fairey-ultra-light-helicopter--1087817. Even tinier..

Matt

Thanks Matt :) Yep, I have that on my wishlist. One day…

A very well done for tackling her with such aplomb.

That's mighty impressive work Ced, detail on top of detail on this one.

Thanks Cookie :) Taxed my patience a bit but pleased enough with the end result.

Thanks Bill, especially for the kit. It's been an 'experience'! I'm having a rest from rotary for a while and then I'll be doing the Belvedere that Adrian kindly sent me; once you've done yours and shown me how to do it! (Just joking, mine will be OOB I think!)

Nice work Ced. Hope your eyes recover!

Thanks Jason :) Eyes are taking a while to re-focus on normal sized things but hopefully OK!

Thanks - it'll be a while until I go this small again! :)

Very nice. Followed the WIP and it fought a bit but you won in the end.

Always looks like a Scout and a Bubble Car had a baby.

Thanks John :D
