Chrisj2003
We've been fortunate in the UK that both Belgian and Dutch air force / components have been very keen, for decades now, to display at quite small events here; so seeing a solo F-16 in the air is as common as seeing the Reds with their Hawks or a solo Typhoon or Tucano / Texan. My first was Mildenhall air show in 1983, I remember thinking just how modern it looked compared to my local air station inhabitants the Lightnings of 5 sqn 11 sqn and LTF Although the F-16 put up a good show (Dutch air force I think?) the mighty F3 from Binbrook was a far more thrilling experience! November 1984, Randolph AFB San Antonio TX, while on a SNA cross country flight from NAS Whiting Field.

Dermo245
Speaking of Dutch F-16s, this from the Twitter feed of Leeuwarden Airbase this morning, 22 June: "At the end of this month, after 42 years, F-16 operations will come to an end from @VlbLeeuwarden To reflect on this in an appropriate manner, a number of F-16s are flying in formation the Elfstedentocht this morning. Just like the first F-16 in 1979 #oantsjenF16" First one I saw was a solo display at an Irish Air Show in the early 80s - must have impressed me because I went out the next weekend and bought the Matchbox kit!! Robertone139
Gents, It's definitive, I am leaving on the 5th to the sandbox for work, shall be gone through August 17th. trickyrich
that's a shame to here but understandable. Hopefully you'll still follow the fun happening here.

Robertone139
Gents, leaving today. I am leaving a placeholder for an Israeli duo, 1/72 Kinetic Sufa and Hasegawa F-16D blk.40 with the original ED Models enlarged spine. I "should" be back mid August and that should leave me enough time to make the final bell. In the meantime I'll drool over your work from a distance.
Robertone139
Well, lazy days as my inprocessing seem to proceed on island time. That lets me bring up a couple of points regarding 1/72 F-16s: none of them has full intake trunking. Also, does anyone know the real meaning of the oversized Stars of David on some F-16 and F-4 and has anyone got photos of those?

From what I have found is the large "Shield of David" national insignias were applied the Negev Squadron F-16A's which were used for dissimilar combat training The Isradecal book on the F-16A/B Netz has a couple of good photos of them but only of the tail. I suspect then nay other IAF aircraft with similar markings would be used for the same purpose.
Christer A
Dang it! I was going to join this one, but since the house isn't finished yet the stash is in deep storage and can't be plundered so easily. I'll probably need the rest of the autumn before I can have a permanent modelling den... And I as soo looking forward to that nice looking Venezuela Viper.... Dansk
Does anyone have tamiya acrylic mix ratios for the Usaf early f-16’s colours? I’d like to use tamiya acrylic paints only on this, mixing is not a problem. (tamiyas instructions as usual call out for their aerosol spray can colours - I’m not going there.) Thx if so! If nobody gets to it before I can, I can try to put together something w/ the iModelKit paint app later when I get home from work. I'm probably going to be in the same boat with at least one of mine (ADF). I suspect the MLU is probably the later colors typically found on the early/mid C models prior to the Have Glass schemes. If I don't opt for trying the MRP paints, I'll be mixing Tamiyas.

Some mixes to try: FS36118 - XF1 (1) + XF25 (1) + XF54 (1) FS36231 - XF25 (1) + XF75 (3) FS36300 - XF19 (2) + XF25 (1) + XF75 (1) + XF77 (1) FS36270 - XF19 (2) + XF25 (1) + XF75 (1) + XF77 (4) FS36375 - XF19 (2) + XF25 (1) + XF75 (1) These were close approximations to the reference samples in the app. There is likely some differences between real life and the web samples they were working off of, but it at least gives you something to shoot at. I've had some luck with the app (YF-23 in Mod Eagle scheme), but I have had issues w/ the paint being different from the samples before too (A-4G). But if you already have the paint, you can mix up a little bit and see if it's in the ball park for you. Hopefully someone has already mixed some of these up and can give you a bit more solid info. 1

desert falcon
Evening gents, Apologies for not taking part in the this (and other GB's) despite signing up! Excuses are plenty but the fact is that I haven't been able to do any modelling this year. But man I do miss the smell of glue and paint and I'm counting on being back for the Nordic II GB starting in a couple of weeks time (can't miss that one, can I). In fact I'm planning on doing a 🇩🇰 F-16, so kind of clubbing the F-16 and the Nordic GB's 🙂 In the mean time I'm just going to lean back and enjoy the incredible work going on here 👍 Cheers Johnny b
trickyrich
no worries Johnny, glad to see you have at least been able to follow all the action. Building an F-16 in the Nordic GB, how much better could it get. ... and the really scary part is it's only 3 weeks away!!!!! and I have at least 1 Phantom to build.....
