Champagne Today.

Recommended Posts

No, I haven’t suddenly won the lottery and started living the high life. Champagne was an M4A3 (76mm) of the French 2nd Armoured Division and was knocked out in the battle of Dompaire in 1944. It now exists as a memorial in the town of Ville-sur-Illon, in NE France. This is a model that I built a few years back, but never got around to putting it in RFI because I wanted to put it on a base. The original intention was make a base, similar to the area that Champagne is displayed on, but it would have taken up too much space, so I’ve just depicted a simple gravel area made from course sand and sprayed white. Photos of the tank as it is now can be found here.  http://the.shadock.free.fr/Tanks_in_France/sherman_villesurillon/index.html

Excellent work mate!

Did the crew survive?

Thanks a lot Mark. Sadly, I don't think so as there is a memorial plaque at the site to the crew.

Lovely build John. Great to see the tank depicted as it stands today.

Thanks Andy. It's the first time that I have depicted one that still exists.

Quel beau char de combat. Nice to see a french sherman.

Cheers,

Ernst

Thanks a lot Ernst. If you want to look here, this is the build I did of Champagne as it was in service in 1944.
