Soviet green for helicopter or general colour for Soviet aircraft

Recommended Posts

I'm going to build a Soviet Mi-8 helicopter, as one during the 80s. But I'm not sure what correct shade of green it be in. I'm hoping to make it like how they were used at Chernobyl. If anyone can give me so correct colours that would be great!

Search for "B923R7" on Alamy and you'll get a closeup picture of a Mi-8 "Blue 05" in Chernobyl. I don't know if it's the same that ended up in the Rassokha graveyard together with lots of Mi-6s and a few Mi-26s.

Mil helicopters had a rather standardized camo scheme and you could use the same paints suggested for Mil-24s - for example Xtracolor X604, X605 and X606.

How interesting, I thought most helicopter were produced with just a plain green livery at that time. Unless they were going to Afghanistan of course. Shame they all ended up in the graveyard. But thank you though, very helpful info.

AKAN(AKAH in its original Russian Cyrillic) does offer paints for Soviet/Russian helicopters. You have to check their website for the colors. They do offer a nice range of them. I believe that there is a store in the UK which sells them; not sure of the name of it. I believe that it is in BMs list of companies listed at the front.
