Jabo31
Hello everybody! I hope anyone can help me. The instructions say that I must cut the wing tips for the clipped wing. What version I got, if I don't cut the wing tips? Is there a other reccon version with the bubble hood? Help would be great. Thanks in advance, Udo. Thanks in advance, Udo. What markings are you trying to build? Spitfire wings tips are removable, the clipped tips were for low altitude use. You get a low back XIV, and FR XIV and with a some minor wing panel changes an Mk XVIII/18. You may need to add camera ports. I did a thread on possible marking variants here, but clipped and standard tips on show. and from the linked thread, a shot with the tip removed... EwenS
11 squadron received FR.XIV while with SEAC in June 1945. They retained the full span wings. Why? In land tests they found it reduced the take off distance by 100ft, vital for the planned take of from the escort carrier Trumpeter during the landings in Malaya in Sept 1945. Jabo31
Hello, thank you very much for your help. I have three decal sheets with a few choices. When I'm home I can say more. It is a sheet from Model Alliance, see picture. I can live very well with the SEA scheme and I think it will also be my choice. For the other two sheets I must see my stash. from: 1001 hobbies Edited March 24, 2020 by Jabo31
