yeehah1
23 03 2020 Hi Everyone I have a question regarding the Aeromaster sheet for this plane. I'm using Aero Master Decals sheet Desert Hawks part II 48-219 to make White 10 - 4596. So far, so good. However, I have Histoire and Collections Curtiss P-40 Planes and Pilots from 1939 to 1945 and on page 36 there's a profile of White 10 and it has 'Sweet Stuff' written above the exhaust stack and the number '4' in the serial number is covered by the fin flag. Soooo, the title 'Sweet Stuff' is not included on the decal sheet. Pictures can be seen here: http://raf-112-squadron.org/57th_fg.html And again, differences....red coloured surround on the Stars and Bars for example and also look at the hub covers here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=56514.0 (scroll down a bit) So the question is, if I want to make 'Sweet Stuff' as in the sas1946 web-site photos with title and hub cover markings, is there a sheet that does these markings in 1/48?? Thanks in advance Liam
Mark Joyce
Hi Liam, Superscale has the name you're looking for, although a different hubcap design, on sheet 48-844: http://www.modelingmadness.com/scott/decals/super/ss48844.htm Just so you know, we're looking at two different airframes coded "10." 4596 is a P-40F-10CU whereas the other, if we're reading the serial number correctly, is a P-40F-20CU. Subtle differences in the two specifically the windscreen. Cheers, Mark Edited March 23, 2020 by Mark Joyce correction

Mark Joyce
3 hours ago, yeehah1 said: So it's two different aircraft? Correct. Most if not all the photos of "White 10" that you provided links to are for the P-40F-20CU, serial number 41-20010. IIRC, this variant had the same small window on the port side of the windscreen that was present on the P-40L. You can seen the window I'm talking about in the photo of (presumably) Exon sitting in the cockpit of #10. The other "White 10," P-40F-10CU serial number 41-14596, lacked this small window. Here's a photo of this one: This appears to be the aircraft that both the Aeromaster and Superscale decals have done (although Superscale has it shown on the wrong variant of P-40F). Unfortunately, I can't tell if the name "Sweet Stuff" was on the nose, or make out the hubcaps from that photo. Sorry about that link not working. Modeling Madness doesn't play well with some Internet providers. Cheers, Mark
